Another sad picture frown

Always thought the 944 is one of the best looking Porsches. Prefer it to the 911.
I used to have a red 944 and I also prefer the 944 / 968 / 928 to the 911.

Sadly, the MOT on this one ran out in 2010, so I bet it's rusting in peace.

At it's last MOT in 2009 it had done 139k miles. But it appears to have had a fair few issues in previous MOTs.

That looks like it's going to need a lot of cash and work to get it back on the road, or is it being bought to part out (not being up with prices for these)
£8k is mental money for that.

£7,000

£8,000

Although the MOT Check site brings it back as being registered in April 1986, it's a pre-facelift version and probably closer in age to the "A" plate it carries (ie '83). Perhaps the seller's blurb is true - one owned by a foreign embassy with an overseas registration, then allocated an age appropriate "A"
plate when UK registered in '86. It has an AMG inscription in the speedo but a godawful cheapo barry rear spoiler which our ambassador friend must have transferred from his mk 1 Nova.

I'd love a period correct SEC but this one? Barge and pole...
I'm sorry but getting an SEC up to normal standard from that will cost a small fortune!

Absolutely unbelievable. I know someone restored a S123 estate - which wasnt as bad as this - and the invoices totalled £40k....that wasnt including the actual car.

I mean, where do you start on something like that...the whole back end will be rusted through and the infamous rear parcel shelf..well you can't get them anymore. I'm genuinely stunned that made the money it did.

I'm not averse to restoration, even if the costs far exceed the value, but usually you start with a good one. I reckon you could spend £60k on that, quarter that if you want a ratty version as a rolling resto...

It's a parts car, but looks like most parts are rusted...

My friend spotted these two today.

If i wasn't 80miles away then I'd have done some door knocking to try and find the owner.

944s end up in that state seemingly more often than other cars of that era, or is it just that more survive?

Wonderful list of 'reason for failure' on the nearer Citroen in 2013!

Psh, nothing thats insurmountable.

However, they almost certainly have shot chassis and bodies. The mechanicals will be salvageable though... perfect dor spares or a donor

This used to be my local the Artichoke. Barman Keith used to look like Frank Carson and used to do cracking impersonation of him!

It would have taken up far less space to list what was OK with it.

Oh my gawd!

Period correct conversion by the Chameleon Car Co. of London. Their crimes are extensive.....

Sold from their prestigious showrooms on Park Lane and converted I seem to remember from an industrial estate in Slough.

This particular horror show is the Chameleon Tornado

RHD but with a km/h speedo, and US style headlights.

Interestingly the exhaust on a W126 exits from the near side but the Chameleon conversions had the exhaust exit on the drivers side. Not sure if there were any mechanical enhancements or if it was just the Stevie Wonder body conversion.

This one needs escorting to the crusher! The G Wagen in the background looks pleasantly unmolested.
