Classics left to die/rotting pics - Vol 2
Discussion
Not exactly "left to die/rotting" but Astons could be next on the list of cars that are being 'officially' built again, new. We've seen Mk.1 Escort shells being sold for the rally market and lightweight E-types. Now Bentley Motors are building, and have sold 12 brand new 4.5L blower Bentleys, copies of the 1929 Birkin car. The price isn't mentioned, but the E-types were nearly a million quid, so these must be more.

Various Minis in states of decay, photos c/o the Mk1 Mini performance forum -
An early Riley Elf somewhere in Derbyshire....
Looks like a genuine late Mk1 998 Cooper despite the slightly odd badge spacing on the bootlid....
This one's from Stroud in 2015, a '63 Mk1 with Mk2/3 rear lights grafted on, a typical update in the '70s....
A '67 Mk1 with a TR4 (?)....
Somewhere in the Netherlands, a Belgian built MkIV Mini with the same doors as an Innocenti model....

That Riley near the top looks like it’s had a nasty knock above the door, doubt it’s a crowbar trying to break in but that’s what it looks like ?, the door would have given first unless of course the roof is rotten and folded like paper. An early Riley Elf somewhere in Derbyshire....

Looks to me as if something has hit it while the passenger door was open, a fork lift truck maybe.
In the early days of the Mini, BMC put out a technical memo on adjusting the door fit by inserting a piece of wood between the door and the doorshut and leaning on the top of the frame to make it sit right!

Looks to me to be the standard damage done with a HIAB and a lifting strop when put on the back of a scrap mans truck. In the early days of the Mini, BMC put out a technical memo on adjusting the door fit by inserting a piece of wood between the door and the doorshut and leaning on the top of the frame to make it sit right!
Non standard headlamp bezels though.

I saw some old footage of a guy adjusting xj6 doors with a lump of 4x2 on the production line!In the early days of the Mini, BMC put out a technical memo on adjusting the door fit by inserting a piece of wood between the door and the doorshut and leaning on the top of the frame to make it sit right!

There is a small compound in Strood (Kent) where there are a bunch of rotting classics. I used to pass it every day on the train to London. There were at least 4 or 5 Lotus Excel/Eclat's in there.
