Twin exhausts? (not that necessarily means anything!)

It does however look as though a Laser has been pillaged for body parts.

Dual exhausts suggest V6, 2.8i pepperpot alloy visible on the rear, body colour doesn't look like an original 3.0 colour ?

Never a fan, but I'd guess there were thousands more Lasers in both 1.6 and 2.0 guise than 3 litre Capris?

Looks like the drivers door may be from the original car which is noted as silver on the DVLA site. Same owner since 1990 apparently too.

A period 3.0S would have had different wheels and graphics, but more tellingly, a checked interior and the mesh Recaro headrests.

Agreed on the graphics as it’s in keeping with the reshell theory, 2.8i wheels were a popular mod in the 80s and 90s, I had a set of those wheels that were on a couple of my capris. As regards the interior, not all S models had the fishnet recaro front seats, this one looks like it has the non-recaro seats with the small headrests installed. Online data also mentions it being an auto, I wonder if that transmission was transferred to the donor shell or if a manual box was fitted?

They didn't come as standard with the Fishnet Recaros, they were an optional extra. A lot of the 3.0S cars had the 4 spoke RS alloys on them as well, whether fitted from new of afterwards. They're 2.8 wheels on the one pictured. No telling what's going on with it really, possibly the original 3.0S re-shelled into a Laser shell with 2.8 wheels on it. Possibly the original silver 3.0 door as I'm pretty sure the 3.0 had black mirrors and they went colour coded on the later cars.

Correct. My dad had a 3.0S with the small headrests you describe; the Recaros were a option presumably

Could it not also originally have been a 3.0 Ghia?

Every day a school day! I thought the S had the Recaro as standard but obviously not

Hello all, I thought I’d join in the fun with a few cats - although you’ve probably seen these before..

Plus a Morgan.
That's Willian Way in Letchworth. Local rumour is that Ant Antstead (?) approached the owner (when just the E-Type was there) and was sent away with a few choice words, don't think anyone has tried since. There's a Range-Rover there too now and wonder how long it'll be before that joins the heap.

Just down the road from me. A friend of mine knocked on the door a few years back, nothing doing.

I'm at the top of Willian Way near Suki (mini-market).

A very nice spot, I'm envious. Funny I was going to walk through there this morning out to Willian and beyond, didn't get around to it. I'm at the top of Ridge Road. Speaking of which, have you seen the Letchworth episode of the Jonathan Meads films? Well worth a look up.

No, will have to look that up, thanks.
