Also, is that a Renault 11 that it's squashed up against?
Yup, European Car of the Year 1982, no less (together with its 4 door cousin, the 9).
Ah, the Renault 9. All the French stylistic flair and joie de vivre right there!

As I fled the property I did notice 'gl' badged on the back of the renault.

Indeed. Bonus points for identifying the one in front of it.

Will see if I can get a better picture next weekend.
190E Merc I'd say, or a W124.
I would concur, although I couldn't get any closer as there was a river between me and it. Will go back at the weekend with a better camera. There were a few other semi interesting motors knocking around.
Went back at the weekend with a camera with decent zoom, but alas have been mostly foiled by foliage.... but here are some closer pics of the Granny and the Merc.

Might have to go back in the winter when the trees and bushes have died back.

There is a third vehicle lurking in the background. Very difficult to tell what it is, possibly an Audi 80?

Also from the same location:

Mk III Fiesta lurking

MkI Golf? Maybe?

And a couple of old vans keeping each other company

They look like a couple of Freight Rover Sherpa's to me - white one looks to have sliding front doors.

That Golf ^^ looks like a MK II.

EDIT: I meant the Golf in the post directly above.

Don't think so - the highlight around the grill runs across the top of the headlight on the mk2, the mk1 it's separate because the headlight intrudes into it.

Mk1

Mk2

I was referring to the Golf in the post directly above mine.

I've owned 2 MK 1 Golfs previously.

I think it's a Mk1 too - the mk1 had that recognisable shape to the corner of the rear window whilst the mk 2 had a clear acute angle. Also, it's got the mk1 alloys and distinctive body stripes. Helios blue I think

Mk1

Mk 2

After zooming in on the pic on my large monitor I do believe you are correct. I was initially fooled by what I thought were MK II hubcaps but I think those are the MK 1 alloys.

We have seen (some of) these pics before, haven't we? Aren't they the other side of a river somewhere?

Well, I took these pics at the weekend, so these particular ones haven't been seen before. Not sure if someone else took similar ones before (haven't read every page of the thread).

The Golf is visible from the lane with the only obstacle being the fencing. The Granada and Merc are the other side of a large ditch from the lane.

Wow, seems strange leaving that in a field given what it could be worth. Last MOT expired in 2018, so can't be too bad??

It's actually someones drive/garden!

I'm surprised at the MOT, it looked abandoned. That said the setting makes it look worse.

Edited to add...

The house was a substantial front line coastal property, and checking on Google earth that's the only drive/parking for the house. The car isn't there on street view so it's quite possibly not as bad as I first thought.

Thats a great spot.

But reading the mot history, I get the feeling its very rusty underneath and probably not worth the final restoration costs. Especially if its an auto on SU, rather then a Vanatge or manual.

A shame, but it would be a restoration of love. But I hope it does get the treatment it deserves...

Actually, I think that's an improvement.
On a serious note, I bet the paint is completely wrecked under all that guano - modern laquers don't deal with it at all well.
