Classics left to die/rotting pics - Vol 2
Discussion
In the classic Jaguar world people seem to think that converting a D-type to an XKSS is just a matter ot drilling out the rivets for the head rest and taking it off and then adding a screen and wipers. Far from it; the door of an XKSS have a vertical B-pillar and the D-type slopes. I've seen a couple where they left that part of the conversion out.

The E3 looks to have a Maxi tailgate and probably the D posts. Pity if it doesn't get saved even though or maybe because these conversions have a 'Heath Robinson' look to them. My own XJ6 Avon was no looker but a great curiosity piece at shows as well as on the road. That featured a Renault 5 rear body and a Volvo 245 rear floor.
Yep, choices were limited back then, so that was often the solution: doesn't help with the rear side doors though . One was saved a couple of years back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUoNZJUIx98james6546 said:

Found out the other day that the BX estate was little more than an extra section tacked on to a hatch (as in literally there is the hatch floor pan and then an extra section attached on at the end). Taking that into consideration I don't think it looks too bad, certainly not as bad as the terrible W114 and E3 above. Still looks a bit off as the rear door at the top "droops" slightly.
Similar problem with Volvo's 240 Estate - They used the saloon's rear doors, and designed the door surround to disguise it:It has bugged me for years
