Been out in Northern California the past two weeks working. Couldn't help but notice this MGC Roadster lined up with a selection of various other vintage USA cars and trucks in the yard we were using to park our logistics trailer. Didn't get the chance for a close inspection, but it seemed fairly complete and restorable. Can post up pics of the other cars that were alongside if anyone is interested.

Probably a GTI judging by the sunroof.
Yes and it has the plate next to and above the fuel cap that the gti had.I had my lessons in my driving instructors 205 D in 1987 - even with zero experience I could tell that I was in something special - the amazing handling and chic looks were from the future. Many years later I had a mk2 Golf GTI and had a go in my mates 205 1.9 - it was so fast and frenetic but totally hectic all the time - it seemed to only have one mode. I think the 1.6 was a better drive and the real sweet spot in the range.

The oddities are the last diesels which were curiously high spec. Peugeot where left with GTIs they couldn't move because the insurance industry went to war on the hot hatch. They recalled them from dealers and wherever else they were stored and converted them to diesel. I heard this at the time but never checked. True? Urban myth?
There was a high spec run out model called the STDT which had a turbo diesel engine but whilst it was well specced it wasn't a GTI-a-like. I think recalling a job lot of GTIs and converting them to diesel would have been ruinous - it may have been cheaper to give them away!Dapster said:

The ride height of that is quite comical , massive wheel arch to tyre gaps .Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
