............................The E39 had no 'i' badge next to the 528 as well..........
Meaningless - The i badge is separate to the 528 model badge, so it could have been stolen, could have been missed off after some paintwork on the boot lid, or could be missing for any number of reasons.

All of the E39's are fuel injected, with or without an i on the boot lid.
I thought the i meant important?

Strangely enough this has been in my local Tesco for quite some time, as you might tell from the weeds starting to grow.

No tax or MoT for sure, but is it a classic? It’s certainly rotting, it’s an Alfa!

I’m getting very bored rolleyes with this Alfa and Rust nonsense. Yes there might have been a brief period in the 70’s where they had some rust problems due to imported steel.

The 70’s was in fact over 40 years ago. I’ve had both an Alfa 155 and 159 whilst the wife had a Mito. They were all excellent cars and totally rust resistant. I’ve had many friends and family who’ve had only positive ownership experiences with Alfa’s. They are excellent cars. Just look at the residual values of Guilia’s soapbox

Throw in a bit of 'Soviet steel' to the rust and both you and the dearly departed Breadvan could have aneurysms.

And yet I had a nearly new 156 back in the day, and as you say, no rust but a complete mechanical nightmare!
Two cam belts, cam variator, seized calipers, suspension arm bushes worn out at 6 months old, bits of trim falling off, MAF sensor etc etc....
And judging by the long line of people queueing up in the dealers to have a go at the service manager I was far from being the only one!

I had a 2.5V6 166 back in the day.

Entirely reliable.

Mine was a 1.6 and a colleague had a similarly reliable 1.8. Mine was a 51 plate, his an 02.

They do corrode underneath, almost as bad as nasty Mercedes. Unless you buy a Japanese import wink

The reason I said what I did about Alfas was because of the MoT history of this one - go take a look …

My first car age 17 in 1990 was a GLS version of that Cavalier in the same colour. It was a truly excellent car. I sold it to go travelling and when I returned bought a Ford Capri 1.6S.

The Capri was highly disappointing after the Cavalier and felt like a car from a totally different era.

I can relate to this feeling in its entirety where the Capri is concerned, as much as I love them.

I bought a 1985 1.6 Laser off ebay in 2006 for the princely sum of just £350. Perfectly running motor but still ran on 4 star. I parked it up for about 6 months and being a young novice I didn't sort the gaps out when I changed the spark plugs, so it would turn but not fire. This was circa February/March 2007 and the weather was wet and atrocious.

My car that I shared at home was a 1991 J reg Ford Escort. A 1.6 Encore with an automatic choke to be precise.

Getting out of the now knackered (thanks to me) Capri after spending hours in the cold, wet and dark and back into the functioning Ford Escort felt like I was stepping into a luxury, state of the art automobile even though by that time the Escort was still over 15 years old. I guess that's classic motoring for you.

The Capri was still relatively (9 years old) new when I had it in 1990 and just felt really old compared to the Cavalier. The Mk 2 Cavalier was a real game changer. Great car.

There's another P100 behind that one.

Spotted this, this morning. Not had a chance to run the reg to see which model it is. Although just realised its miss the last letter, I'm sure someone will work it out.

It's an Audi coupe 2.0 16v. Annoyingly, the last letter is Y. It's been without an MOT since 2016.

I've got a feeling I've seen these Alpina's on here before.
In Manchester.

Good work.

I quite fancy a V6 quattro version of these, I've had an S2 avant in the past, but prices are a bit rich for me now a days.

Likewise, as I remember thinking the person that let those E21s get in that state needed shooting.

Fingers crossed there might still be an E12/21 left by the time I have the funds to get one rolleyes

Driven past those a few times, always think of this thread when I see them. I think there's a RR Shadow and some old Jags nearby too.
