These are abandoned in South Wales. Who can identify what this is from.

It's taken quite a tumble into the bottom of a quarry and has been there for some time.
I take a punt on Audi but don't know which one, almost no body left to identify.

This one in slightly more intact condition slowly is vanishing under the shrubbery.

Second one is a SAAB 9000: the first one, not a clue!

Looks like something you'd see in an early VW Golf, Passat or Polo

I'd agree with you - the VW cars (Golf, Passat) were transverse in layout whereas the 80 was longitudinal until the B3 of the mid 80's.

Obviously hard to tell if it's a hatch or a saloon, but the wheels on that 9000 make me wonder if it might be a rare, top of the range Griffin:

I used to live in Southend 20 odd years ago. Every kept woman in Leigh-on-Sea seemed to have one of those Figaros. I think there was a local importer who must have made a killing. I went back last year and they seem to be popular once again.
Yes, they were fairly popular in the area a while ago. There were two used car dealers in London Road who imported them. However as they were made in 1991 it seems that rust & old age has killed most. One of the dealers now specialises in small automatic cars and I think the other closed down. In fact lots of the London Road used car dealers have gone now, usually replaced by flats etc.

I seldom see a Figaro in this part of Essex anymore, you must of been lucky or probably have better eyesight than me !

The era that engine was from the Passat had the same layout as the Audi 80 (longitudinal) right up to around 88 then transverse

Quite right! Passat in line, Golf + Polo transverse.

80s were longitudinal at least into the '90s, or at least the ones I owned were. I can't speak for the A4 generally but the B8.5 I have at the moment is also longitudinal.

My uncle had a T80 Corona like that in Sri Lanka in the late 70's. It was a Japanese built car but badged "Toyopet". My dad used to drive it when we went on holiday there and he said it had the sweetest gearbox of any car he had driven!

Weird.

This one has been languishing in a car park near where my dad lives for as long as I can remember, although the car park was resurfaced not all that long ago so it may not be as bad as I first thought.

Not my pic - Google Maps.

Seen a Vectra (2.8 V6 one) near me collecting moss in a driveway. Dunno if it counts as a classic at this point though.

Will try grab a picture at some point.

It was painted by Banksy.

It used to be just a knackered old Spitfire on a container

It then got "Banksy'd" in 2004 - ReinCARnated - you can just make out his name on the right in pink. It was entombed after that.

It's just the side painted pink
