Might be worth trying in the Classics forum. Car looks like it's from the late 70's or 80's.
That's a good shout... cheers.

If any of you fine classic car people can point me in the right direction with this car there is a virtual pat on the back waiting for you - I've asked every 'car guy' I know and it's stumped all of us.

Thanks in advance.

I want to say Monteverdi Hai, based on having a similar-looking matchbox car as a kid.

Looking at an image, it's not it, but I thought I'd post anyway, just because it's spectacular:
I wouldn't apply spectacular to many cars, but the Hai is one of them.

Which it's clearly not, as was discussed on the first page of this thread.

True but maybe to guard against 'star cracks' from stones?

The 1970 Opel GT is a good contender from the front to middle.

Is LHD though.

The lines of the 240/260/280 (around the door) seems all wrong as a host for a kit.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like my earlier suggestion, a customised Mitsubishi Cileste Colt

The top of the Opel Gt door frame cuts into the roof section whereas the car the OP posted does not.

Also, the Opel GT's rear window is too small.

Would be my guess too. The rear window and the vent behind match and the proportions are right on the rest of the car.

Could it be this? Looks identical apart from the vents. A Ze-One

I think you have nailed it with the Zee-One. Even the slight mismatch between the front wheel and the wheel arch is the same.

aka Plymouth or Dodge Arrow.

Put some slats on the rear, smooth out where the bumper used to be and something pointy on the front and it looks like the best candidate.

Sorry, had to remove photo as it had copyright. The car is a 1978 Ze-one. First seen at the Sydney motor show. has a 5 litre Holden engine.

Here's some more info:
Built by John Englaro, Dorian Zerial and Harold Zeman. It was developed as a competitor to Ferrari and Maserati. Engine, gearbox and running gear was borrowed from Holden. Chassis and suspension were by John Englaro who also worked on Leyland P76 project before the Ze-One. The plan was to build 25 units a year each priced at $25.000 AUD (this would be just under $100.000 USD today). Little, if anything, has been heard about the Ze-One after the Sydney show.

It's had some tasteful modifications since its prototype days by the looks of it. I'd love to see the front though! Let's hope the owner or one of his friends reads PH.
