Pur Sang made a good product.

But it's ALL brand new parts. Was this the one that the DVLA were looking into and that was causing some 'Bugatti' owners sleepless nights?

I can't see any easy way for a Pur Sang to be registered in the UK; it's a new vehicle and would need to meet the IVA rules which would mean a lot of changes. There aren't any dodgy Bug T35 V5Cs floating about on ebay to ring one with.

The FIA will happily issue a Historic Technical Passport, which certifies that a car conforms technically with the period specification,but it does not in any way certify the history or provenance of a car.

For example, Maserati Birdcage 2459 was destroyed in a ball of fire in 1962 and any usable parts were distributed to other Birdcage owners. But 50 odd years later it has miraculously been "rebuilt" (with a brand new chassis made in England - and stamped "replica" I believe- and body and non-original engine) but has failed to sell at Auction on a number of occasions due to doubts about its provenance.

Here is one that was never actually built..the type 64 Bugatti (original chassis), with a version of the body that might have been fitted...

Jean Bugatti, the designer of the Atlantic, died before this model could be completed. Peter Mullin who owns one to the two surviving Atlantics ( i posted a pic I took earlier in they thread) commissioned a replica body to show what might have been possible. It will not be finished but is displayed over the original type 63 chassis and running gear..

..and its gorgeous.
