Had the 100GLS, from new. One day nearly home it died, engine turned over plenty of juice and good spark, flattened a spare battery trying to start it.

Had the local dealer pick it up. Next day had a phone call with "Good news sir, and bad news"

"What's the good news" I asked.

"We charged the battery and it started first time"

"What's the bad news then"

"We don't know why it stopped, but if it does it again call us out"

At least my plate made our Dutch neighbour laugh, he was so impressed he took a photograph for his pal back home, it was KUT 94V.

How refreshing to see adverts that actually show the price to BUY a new car rather than just lease it or get it on tick.

I challenge anyone to find a current advert that does show the price to actually buy the car.

October '70, blimey... I was watching 'Villain' for the umpteenth time the other night which was filmed in August that year, in the final scene there's a J reg'd Police Mk3 hovering in the background, I'm guessing it must have been a very early Ford press fleet car.

Great thread.

Love the first page especially - my old man's first car was a Herald, followed by a Vitesse and, a couple of SAABs later, he test-drove a Nova Sport. Alas, he decided it was too lairy and bought an SR instead.
