Cheers. It is quite rough to look at close up, but drives very well. I will post some more photos on its thread later on.

Remember seeing this one a few years ago - It's a real stunner. The VHK491S plate is not it's real number plate - that was the number plate used on the Granada 2.8i s in the later series of The Sweeney. The guy who owns it built it as a replica of that car.

It's actual reg is VHK481S and was originally a green 2.8i s Ford press car so close enough and quite an interesting history anyway.

I had a lovely ride in the back of 'VHK' in 2014 around West London, the guy who owns it also has a late registered ex-Bristol plod Mk1 3-litre Grannie, complete with working old style siren.

I have two sets of laser cut stainless badges for a Granada 2.8 GL if they're any use to you, let me know. FOC.

My first car in 1984 (at 18) was a 1979 Diamond White Ford Granada 2.8 Ghia Auto and then I had a 1982 Cardinal Red 2.8 Injection Auto (not a “Sport” as so many people incorrectly call the model - it only ever had “2.8 Injection” on the bootlid and there was never any mention of the word Sport in sales literature!) with white TRX metric alloys... Loved them both but, in retrospect, I think the pre-facelift cars had a more pure look and, of course, the gloriously kitch crushed Verona velour and wood interior.

VHK 491S was also a genuine Ford press car that was the subject of various road tests. It was also loaned out for use on The Sweeney too. The original car was a very early example and actually had silver (not satin black) B-posts; check out online screen shots of the car...

I had an ex Thames Valley Police CID car . Silver with black cloth trim .
I didn't know it was ex plod until it went to a local mechanic who used to work for the local dealer and he recognised the fleet plates and underbonnet markings .
The thing was surprisingly quick and great for ragging about in .

Such a car was used on the first series of The Bill, an S plate 2.8 - it looks to have L trim but the L was 2.0 or 2.3 only.

Mine was a 2.8 Ghia auto, ex GKN directors car bought courtesy of my dad who was a mechanic for them. Best car ever for drifting in the snow, it’s long wheelbase meant you could easily hold a slide. Reminded me of a big escort to drive. Electric windows meant real luxury back in the day.
Sold because it only did 18mpg.

Back in the early 80s, i worked for a guy in the east End of London. One day he turned up in a lovely metalic mid blue 2.8l Ghia X. Im sure it was on an X plate.
Imagine my suprise and delight, when he threw me the keys to run an errand for him, when on opening the drivers door, i was confronted with a manual gear box !!
I was then on my 3rd 3 Litre Capri and also a TR-6 and so was no stranger to quick cars, but omg, that Grannie was quick and lovely to drive!!
Kicking myself that i never got a photo, as he didnt keep it long.
Its the only manual box one that ive ever seen.

Yes, manual V6 Grannies are like rocking horse poo!

I did go to look at a manual Mk1 3.0XL back in 1979, but ended up buying a manual Rover P6B 3500S - well if 6 is good, 8 must be better! laugh

I had a 2.8i Ghia X Estate from around 1991-98, was an excellent tow car.
Lowered it a bit with Leda Springs, put bigger front discs from a 24V Cosworth on and Rover Vitesse 4-pots. Also added an Air - Oil Cooler to the Auto box.

My Dad had a manual box silver 2.8i GL ( I'm pretty sure it was a GL ) brand new as a company car - ALO 54S.

Remember him picking it up new in the summer and seemed pretty fast compared to the Triumph saloon he'd had before

A few things I remember about it, had a habit of stalling on full lock as the power steering challenged the idle, there was a local roundabout where it would always drift the back end a bit (when there was no one about ) and the big sunroof.

My first really nice Company Car back in 85 was a 2.8 ghia. I was 25 and one day as I was "flying" up the M62 near Huddersfield I just caught the glimpse of a Police Car coming out of the service or a layby and darted of down the slip road to Huddersfield and I saw the blue light behind me.
I pulled over knowing they couldn't have clocked me and they asked me where I was going to and was able to give them an address in Huddersfield which seemed to disappoint them .. I was told to take care and maybe slow down.
I loved that Car it was such a step up from my Escort ,Dolomite and a Lime green Allegro
