It’s not a complex engine. If he’s confident to tackle it and you are confident in him. Let him at it.

Dave Fisher, Kingfisher Kustoms https://www.kingfisherkustoms.co.uk/

I was in the VW scene back in the late 70's early 80's, built buggies and Baja's, worked on type 3's etc. and these Boys were the Bizzo back then (I bought my Kombat Buggy Kit from them) and the fact they are still going today says it all.
It's in Brum, but it would be worth the trip, and leave it with them. It will be sorted once and for all.

Not close to you but easy to get to round the M25

I have a reconditioned DG from these guys in my T25 and 2 years on it doesn't miss a beat or use a drop of oil or water - and handled a 2 hour traffic jam a month ago on the hottest day of the year. I also kept pace with my missus on a 3 hour journey back from Suffolk recently - no mean feat for a 2 ton 40 year old van versus a 2 yr old turbocharged hatch!

Fox and Sons near Twyford, Berks is good. Danny knows his stuff.

Just a short drive along the A404 for you.
