Last week, the van had to make a last minute early morning dash from north London to Luton Airport when the cab booked for an early ski departure failed to show up . At least skis fit in the back no probs. The van started first time after a week getting rained on in the airport car park. Pity that Luton Airport couldn't be arsed to have a working payment machine at the exit "Oh, it's been broken all week, most people pre-book" said the cheerful bloke who eventually turned up to left me out after a 45 minute wait very late on a cold and rainy night.

Today the van was being a van again. I cleared out my room in chambers, as I start a new gig on Monday. No furniture to move, as I've given my desk and chairs to junior colleagues, and donated most of my books to the chambers library, but assorted stuff.

Infallible rust repair - by painting over it. The van looks well spiffy thanks to random sprayage with a can of Rover Champagne paint. That's beige to those of you who aren't posh. I need another can to do the wheels, unless I use the spare can of yellow Hammerite left over from my Dolomite, or a can of Lancia bronze that's too dark for my Beta.

Has anyone around there given you the "there goes the neighbourhood" look or are they fairly tame?

Good luck with the new gig.

laugh

I can see the neighbours curtains twitching now.

I had word through a family member that her stuck up friends weren't happy with me parking my old Merc on the street near their houses (near my house as well!)

It's a bloody AMG, so quite posh enough in my opinion!

So I have just bought a rusty old shed of a Jumbo Transit.

Can't wait to see their reaction when I park that piece of scrap up yikes

Thread closure: I sold the van last year for something over four bags. It is being renovated down in Devon.

Does that make it a Devon conversion?
