I haven't seen an update, not sure who or where to ask.

Suggestion here that the Benz was rolling downhill "out of control" with someone hanging off the back trying to slow it down.

p.s. for the pedants, GetSurrey does call the car a Benz but spoils it by saying it's vintage. wink

There's another thread running specifically on the accident in NP&E: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

The statement on the Veteran Car Run's website mentions only one person with serious injuries, so hopefully that's not an error and the other seriously injured party has already improved.

Nothing new comes up on Google, so hopefully that means everyone's recovering OK

I don't think driving on the footpath is going to do the event any favours:

That was due to some genius who decided to close a lane at Banstead crossroads for the day and this caused the whole of the

"Mad mile" to jam up and a bloke who came up it and stopped where I was told me all about this.

Although closing the lane on a weekday wouldn't have been any better.

I agree. Unless they were stationary having pulled out of the traffic? Hard to tell from that photo.

Very sad thing to happen on such a universally enjoyed event. RIP.
