Thank you .... only thing my OCD doesn't like is the gold coil which I'm tempted to paint black
If you could get hold of an offcut of chrome vinyl wrap it would be an easy job, and you could do the oil filler cap too!

Latest update on the car .... I did another test / track day at Brands during the week and again the car ran very well, I shared the day with a good friend of mine who will drive the car in the likely event that we race it.

Car went through a set of rear std brake shoes so am currently investigating why and looking at fitting some kind of brake bias valve.

Also got the car on the scales and its 580kg

few pictures below ...

Get them relined with a race spec material, stock shoes don't last 5 minutes on track in any drum braked car.

Questmead can do this for you. http://www.questmead.co.uk/

I’ve only ever used std brake shoe linings in mine, with in line bias valve and it doesn’t wear them out, I reckon I’ve adjusted them up once in 3 seasons. Maybe rear engine makes a difference?

I didn't get any of my times sadly, but my friend was down to one minute, recon I would be maybe 2-3 seconds slower I was looking after the car as well as driving and forgot to get one of the others to time me.
Bearing in mind we are on 7 year old tyres that were only put on to set the car up and gently run around I recon we will have a fair bit more to come.

It does .... my Golf R was 1477kg, also the cage in the imp i went a bit overkill on and made bigger than I needed and from steel.

Alloy cages aren't allowed.

So without the cage it would probably weigh about the same as a Caterham. Pretty impressive!

Just saw someone is selling a Hartwell race engine on retro rides, link below (no connection to me) in case you want a genuine Harwell spare motor.

Loving this thread. Many happy memories messing about with Imps back in the day, apart from wrestling with rotoflex couplings followed by bleeding knuckles.

On a side note Hartwell also did tuning stuff for the Avenger that pre dates the Tiger.
