I caught an episode the other day where they restored a bloke's mercedes convertible. He seemed very genuine and choked up about it.
It's a different level than Wheeler dealers: the outfit (owned by Fozz?) is a legit restoration company, and although I like Ed's explanations about stuff a lot of people could do themselves, car sos obviously spend a lot more per episode.
The presenters love themselves a bit, but then as the bloke above says, that's par for the course on TV.
I did see part of an episode where they were restoring an Astra GTE which was pretty cool. The risk is that it makes me think it would be a good idea to buy a knackered 80s/90s performance-ish car and try and do it up, as I would fail miserably.

I hate when these classic resto programmes fully resto someones cherished classic, only for them to not keep the original colour. Even the ep where they did up the retired caretakers E Type they had to respray it maroon instead of keeping to the lighter red when it left the owners garage.
Fuzz Townsend has recently set up his own business in car restoration, it isn't the business depicted in any episodes of Car SOS that I've seen [Westgate Classics].
He may well appear to be the owner, but he ain't.
He is also the face in front of a classic garage repair/MOT scheme, that I expect he makes a few quid from.

I don't know if it's ever had it's own thread but Classic car rescue with Bernie and Mario is being shown again at 6pm on Quest.
Makes Car SOS look so much better.
There's now also Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars in which seems to be much the same as Wheeler Dealers – buy classic, do it up, sell if for profit. Makes Car SOS look so much better.
I like watching Salvage Hunters so I'll persevere.

Yes ,I watched that ,rather terrible and PH ripped it to shreds.I like watching Salvage Hunters so I'll persevere.
Series was only 3 episodes, more of a trilogy than a series.

If that's the show I'm thinking of, it was so appallingly contrived as to border on comedy with fake accidents on freshly painted cars etc. Makes Car SOS look so much better.

Fuzz did start Westgate Classics but sold it in 2016 (You are watching old episodes ) He may well appear to be the owner, but he ain't.

He then started a new classic car business and has expanded into a series of classic friendly garages

Just found out about Tim Shaws wife ebaying his Esprit Turbo for 50p.
I've been a fan of the show for ages, I remember the story of the Lotus saga but know idea he was the unlucky sod.
Having just read up on that, I would say that Mrs Shaw is the unlucky one to have found out that she married such a wker (which clearly even 10 years later he still is)I've been a fan of the show for ages, I remember the story of the Lotus saga but know idea he was the unlucky sod.

Million pound properties, working in Singapore etc etc... no disrespect but they can afford to restore their own cars. More deserving people out there who genuinely need the help to finish the car. Not just a free meal ticket to a very valuable car to sell on.
I watched the Aston Martin episode and something just didn't ring true about it.I didn't buy the "emotional attachment" to the car aspect of the show, and it struck Me as a bit odd that the guy was supposed to be in agonising pain and discomfort for so much of the time, but was still able to travel the World working on construction projects.
Whatever the truth is, something definitely wasn't right about that episode!
