Longest ownership and still yours

My then girlfriend and now wife bought this soon after we got together in 1992. The first choice was a Golf Convertible but we couldn’t afford to buy or insure one. I remember jokingly saying that the only convertible that we could afford was a Morris Minor. It was used as her daily driver for a couple of years and then put into occasional use since and it’s tucked up in the garage now used for summer only. Our children have never known life without it and I cannot imagine ever selling. It’s like a pet in a way.

I only had mine a couple of years because I wanted the next Fast Ford - as in a Capri 2.8i!

New in January 1963, bought by an uncle a year later. My father bought it when it was 6 years old and gave it to me in 1977. The Fords in the previous replies reminded me that my driving instructor had an Escort; I think that it was a Mk1 1300 GT. I practised with the Mk2, it was quite a contrast.

So I bought this Rover in 1982 when I was 19. At the time my mates were driving Mk2 Escorts and VW Golfs and the like. I thought I would be a bit different!
It wasn't much of a 'bird-puller', but that could have been me!
When I was 20 I was fortunate to be given a new Mini Mayfair as a company car, so it was not a daily driver for very long. I think I've done about 20k miles in 36 years, she's had a respray but not much else, ..

This is my dads car. He bought it in 1972 as a write off from a scrapyard. He’d just blown the engine in an NSU 1000 TT on a stage rally. He got the 100e for £4.50, reduced from 5 quid as he didn’t want the engine but had to remove it himself.
It was family car plus rally car for about 10 years. I used to get taken to nursery in it, in a carry cot strapped to the roll cage. It went off the road for about a decade, before being restored and becoming a race car in 1997. It finished 4th overall in the st Mary’s trophy at Goodwood, we won as father and son at spa in 2002. Multiple class wins etc despite being too heavy. It’s brought me closer to my dad than you could imagine, and will never, ever be sold. It’s a proper family heirloom.

Great to hear so many people cherishing their cars so long. A friend of mine has had this for 35 years or more. Most of it is original.
Not in the same league, but I've had the Z4 for almost 15 years now, with 25k it's a keeper for as long as I can manage. I must get some decent photos done at some point.

A mate has got a Sierra estate that his grandma bought new ( F reg I think ) . 17k on the clock and still has a faint new car smell . It's nothing special with regards to spec or history but he vows it's staying in his ownership. It is in fabulous condition apart from a blown seal in the autobox .

Than you. They do look like 202s but the brochure lists them as Type 107 Elipsoid - is that the same? It was built with 108s but I had the dealer change them as I thought 107s were a bit more unusual, in keeping with Bangle's 'flame surfacing' design. Cue 'your oldest car brochure' thread.
