Do you remember how they used to answer the phone ?

“Hello Currie motors nice to do business with you how can we help?’ !

Only too well - it was painful! UK version of "have a nice day". banghead

Still I think Currie Motors became a Nissan dealer - serves them right!

My mother bought a new Fiesta 1.1S in Midnight Blue from Phoenix of Sutton in 1979 (I think the site became a Magnet kitchen showroom) - lovely colour, but it was a b*gger to keep clean. frown

Seemingly pretty rare on an RS2000 though.

LOVE It !!
The spec to have as well! Was she on downdraught Webbers ?
My Burton 2.1 was on side draughts.
My fave colour along with yellow, signal orange and signal Amber !
LLX is listed as exported, in circa 2009, guessing Ireland ?

In the mid-‘80s I made the mistake of buying an early (W plate) XR3; the carburated, 4-speed version. My excuse was it was incredibly cheap as I bought it from my Dad. I fitted RS 7-spoke alloys, a Janspeed manifold and exhaust system, Kent cam and Spax adjustable struts, but it was still a horrible thing to drive. Although it handled reasonably well, it was woefully underpowered and the interior was cheap, noisy and nasty.

A mate turned up one day in a V plated Midnight Blue RS2000 Custom pack. He let me drive it on the rural roads of Wiltshire. Despite being the predecessor to my XR3 it was just so much nicer in all respects. It had twin 45s (or possibly 40s), a Kent fast road cam, a Stage ll Burton head and Janspeed manifold/exhaust. It was lovely inside, with comfy Custom Recaros, an RS wheel and lightly tinted glass. It was a joy to drive - fast (for its day), with very predictable handling, it turned in nicely and inspired confidence. Everything my XR3 didn’t. I lusted after one and, of course, should have bought his when he sold it a year later. But I didn’t. Probably my biggest car-related mistake frown

I made a similar mistake.....only for XR3 read VW Golf Gti 1800
Bought one after my first Mk2 RS2000 was written off by a head on with an overtaking 323i on my side of the road
Never got on with it really, brakes were poor after the RS and the clutch cable tried to saw through the bulkhead - just not well engineered for rhd and just nowhere near as fun as the RS
So sold it and went back to another Mk2 RS2000 - an ex-unmarked car with HD battery and alternator

Re XR3s, my Mums first quick car in early 72, was a 70 3 Litre Capri. This was followed in 73, by a gorgeous J reg Tawny Capri 3000E.
Then in 76, she traded it for a lovely L reg onyx green Cortina 2000GXL Auto.
She kept that until 85, when we got her a W reg red Fiesta Super Sport, which was a fantastic car ( I had more late night dices in that than probably any other car ! ) After about 3 years we sold ( reluctantly ) the Super Sport and I found her an immaculate red, Y reg XR3i. I did a few miles in this car and really rated it, loved driving it, but sadly after about 3 months, some scum stole it from outside the house in east London one night. We replaced it with a Lhasa green Y reg Golf GTi 1800, which I found in Waltham Abbey. Bit of an impulse purchase, turned out it still had finance on it and the seller was dodgy. It was written off about 2 years later in 89, when 2 lying scum ploughed into the back of her, whilst she was stationary at a set of traffic lights on the East Way.
Agree re the weak brakes on the RHD Golf GTi, they are I am told, a far better drive in LHD, which of course they were originally designed for.
