Didn't know Jeroen had a GTV. Last I saw him (and his beard! ) he was riding shotgun with Dimer v-S in either an S2000 or an NSX.Definitely a fake, as the real ones were all the 6N shape.
Probably started as a nod to The Inbetweeners' Cinquecento, then the owner realised how cheap / available the easily changed body panels were (think front wings, doors, tailgate) and it snowballed from there.
As has been said, the paintwork on the originals was flawless, but the touch-up kits were very expensive...

Dutch Octane Magazine Cars & Coffee 06
First series Espace by Matra. I travelled in one when they where new.
That's a 1986 or 1987 Jaguar Sovereign next to it, a very rare car now. These launch spec cars had taller door mirrors, no scuttle infill which allowed the wiper to disappear under the lip of the bonnet and (on the Sovereign and Daimler) a black insert on the boot lid between the rear lights.First series Espace by Matra. I travelled in one when they where new.
They seem unappreciated now but despite their rather conservative looks they were a sophisticated machine by the standards of the mid 1980s - more so in many ways than the BMW E32 7 Series, despite that car's more modern appearance and manufacture. The Jaguar's engine, suspension and electrical system were all more sophisticated than the BMW and the Jaguar was much safer in an accident. It is a shame they never shook the initial poor reputation for unreliability which was untrue for later cars and they have long suffered from the bane of Jaguar - that the enthusiasts of the older cars are very prescriptive as to their looks. They sold well new though.
It is good to see such an early car about, though it would look better if the headlights were re-silvered. It seems to be a fairly common problem on the cars with the 'fishtank' headlights.
I don't have to ask you were Albert (Dinkel) was that Sunday
came across it when I was looking what I missed that day, also a crazy AMC AMX 3 red car, I first thought hm, strange de Tomaso? but forgot about those rare AMC cars.
here those pictures>

So do I.
Not as weird as I thought then...
Wanting one is not the same as expecting to ever own one though! We had a facelift phase 1 Espace as a work hack in an office I worked at 20-odd years ago, a former company car of one of the directors that they'd kept on for emergencies. The visibility was fantastic and it went surprisingly well. The first ones, with the Talbot-style front end and reverse rake grille, are fantastic. Not as weird as I thought then...

Kept it for a few weeks then got my money back on it. Years later I bought a 3rd series, 2002 diesel, one of the first cars with a fully concealed stereo and only a remote controller.

That Jag has a well known owner, at least over here in the Dutch classic scene.Gallery: https://myalbum.com/album/2ADcuFaefzwq/
Espace Phase 1: I travelled in one coming from the South of France to cross the Spanish border and was gobsmacked.
RE: Rene, about 520 cars gathered in the sun. This Dutch Octane meet must've been the best yet.
I've seen three over there now and it's time to find some proper spring evening meetings.

Last summer I visited Cars & Coffee, and a family of 4 turned up in a 500. It was always a tiny car, but these days it's like a matchbox toy. That Abarth looks in good nick.
My dad used those cars to make a little profit by fixing those, meaning, mechanically brakes and so on, and ow, often lots of polyester to fix rot... and sometimes painting the cars all in our 1 car garage, which was reasonable in wide and length and had a grease pit.
net to those at least Fiat 600 he also had a NSU 1000 prinz and a Peugeot 404? and? anyways 'that were the most he had at 1 point in time , those days lots of free parking place were we lived, not on our own ground but of the municipality? at those days no problem
