An August 2019 spot:
You gotta love this immaculate Jensen C-V8.
The interior... OMG, all new and a true palace. This car has won its prices.
Chrysler Hemi power is super smooth and no match for any other period Yank V8.
Classy car, a proper gentleman's express, with reliable V8 power. You gotta love this immaculate Jensen C-V8.

How good must these have been, when introduced, compared to the other cars of the period?
I think a better choice of car (now and back then) than over hyped Aston Martin's and Jags of the same year?
I've seen a few CV8s down the years, ranging from concours examples at the NEC (that come and go on a trailer) to a few beaten up ones in the 80s - one I knew sat under a tree for years and eventually sold for hardly anything - a few hundred quid.
I've always liked the slightly 'odd' look of them. And of course The Baron drove one ...

Yes, Indeed. A Bond Minicar. Oh how we used to travel! Single cylinder Villiers engine which turned with the steering, mounted via motor cycle front forks under the bonnet. Experts will correct but just 197cc AIRC.
An aunt of mine had one. Yup - 197cc Villiers twostroke. No reverse gear so could be driven on a bike license and since it was under 250cc a provisional license was okay apparently. Its neat trick was that the engine would happily start and run backwards. ISTR it had two sets of points to facilitate this.
So no reverse gear but could still go astern, so within the letter of the rules if not the spirit.

This set looks familiar, maybe used in an episode of the Saint....I've always liked the slightly 'odd' look of them. And of course The Baron drove one ...

All filmed at the studios at Elstree ... like a lot of the series back then, so no wonder it looks familiar!Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
