I thought you'd never ask...Here's another Jailbar, spotted in the wild in NZ:The 46-48 cabs were basically the same as a 40, (see the swage lines) but with a different front end:
The front end is similar to a 39-40 ford car.
This was a 48 - 52 model, known in NZ as a Bonus, for some reason:
This is a 38 or 39, often called a Barrel nose. The 39 had hydraulic brakes and (I think) different trim on the grill. It's been chopped as well:
They all came with a sidevalve V8, or an optional 6cyl after the war, I think.
Bit of an aside, but when Madness were filming that video, they discovered that Rainbow were recording around the corner. So they burst in on them in their plod outfits. Cue lots of toilet flushing and swearing.
