COOL CLASSIC CAR SPOTTERS POST! (Vol 3)
Discussion
Visiting my local garage workshop:
Recent exterior upgrade for this 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint. One of 7,107 built. Expect 60-70k euros.
The Maserati Merak (1972–1983, 1,830) is the less powerful family member of the V8 powered Bora. Three litre (enlarged Citroen SM) V6 allows for a 2+2 configuration, as like the period Ferrari 308 GT4. For kids without legs that is. Wheels look substantial but are just 15 inchers boasting 185 and 205 MMs!

Fancy taking that to Kwik-Fit and asking for new rear tyres.
Probably one of the easiest cars on the Planet to take a rear wheel off, providing the suspension is in full working order - Doesn't even need a jack!Added to that, the entire rear wing is a simple bolt on - bolt off affair, using a single bolt per wing!

Ah yes, but as I recall D wheels can’t be balanced on the usual machines most tyre places have, the hole in the centre has a bracket over the top to receive the hubcap, so while they could easily remove the wheel, it may be more tricky to balance it up afterwards...
The wheels on my Vauxhall can't be balanced by most tyre places, because the centre hole is too small for the spindle to fit through.cpl593h said:
Yes RW Services is still around - ran past the other day and there appears to be some building work happening out the back of the shops which has necessitated the removal of some of the automotive real estate possibly for the first time in 20 years.....plenty still remain, mainly MGB's of course, but I also spotted a T25 Syncro, Rolls Corniche and W115 200. There is also an automotive trimmer close by and he has a 380 SLC and 911E Targa in at moment, and a couple of months ago a stunning navy blue W111 coupe. A friend of mine just had his Fiat 500 re-trimmed by him and the results are nothing short of spectacular - not cheap mind.
Palace Road Motors has a metallic blue Renault Alpine GTA that has been up on a ramp for at least 2 years - dropping my car off for some work on Tuesday so will ask what the story is - they quite often have customer cars hanging around for months whilst waiting for obscure parts to arrive but that would be a record...
So the story with the GTA is that belongs to the owners cousin and was in storage for 25 years prior to be delivered for recommissioning some 2 years back - owner lives abroad and it's a whenever they get the time job, so I suspect it will up there on the ramp a while yet...Palace Road Motors has a metallic blue Renault Alpine GTA that has been up on a ramp for at least 2 years - dropping my car off for some work on Tuesday so will ask what the story is - they quite often have customer cars hanging around for months whilst waiting for obscure parts to arrive but that would be a record...

The ropey looking XJS that Dapster pictured a while back is also as I suspected a customers car that has been left on a similar basis - though it has recently moved so maybe it's time has come....
