Seems I exaggerated the TR connection.... Mechanicals are TR2, not 4. Swallow Coachworks made a bespoke chassis for it.

The Doretti bit was a tribute to Dorothy Deen who was the US distributor for them. As well as the desire to give it an Italian sounding name.

In the 60's there was a red one buzzing around South Wales with the Reg 123BOB..It was claimed to be the prototype. and turned out to be owned by my wife-to-be's Brother in Law. BOB Holmes R.I.P.

I think the Swallow was built by a subsidiary of Tube Investments and pressure was put on them by Standard-Triumph to cease production or else they would stop doing business. The car was pricey but still a competitor of the TR.

Dare I say it, but the Swallow Doretti was prettier than the TR2 in my eyes.

V12 XJS parked near North Quay, Douglas:

Also a very clean Citroen Xantia a few spaces along but not sure it qualifies for this thread! Call me odd but do think they're a good looking car, the estate even more so.

Yep, Swallow Doretti, one of around 276 made, not sure how many are left.

The TR2 is an ugly thing IMO.

Gifdy - no, but someone up there was saying a new one was being built from just in front of the restaurants there sometime.

XJS looks lovely. Xantia certainly rare these days. My family had Citroen dealerships mid-90s to mid-00s and about a 7 year lifetime for those cars was very much normal.

I’d still love an Activa, though maybe not the bills.
