Would love to drive an Imp (or one similar)
Get one of these!Would love to drive an Imp (or one similar)
Back a tad further in time, 41 years to be precise. Bit dated for this thread but hey ho.
Been searching for old pics of my wife's younger sister Kim and her cars - she had a pale blue Imp in the late 70s but have yet to find photos for her husband (she taught 'him' to drive in her Imp). Then got herself a G15 in the summer of 1980.
Sadly, this year she became just another of the many victims to cancer (63 yrs old).
Double take!
I'd already found this shot of her behind my car but it was just a 'reflection' in the Ginetta factory window. I knew I had taken another photo outside the factory of both cars and have thankfully found it.
And a naughty shot from my car on the way.
Kim was 22 when this snap was taken, prior to us going to Ginetta club meet at Kelvedon. We did just under 300 miles that day. Great times!
Those Ginetta G15 always look so good, nice compact and low, saw my first few in real life 10 or so years ago,
we were visiting gallery-aaldering in Brummen Netherlands with some car friends, there was a meeting or so from Ginetta and sort.
lovely cars to see, sadly those engines so far in the back, no idea how they drive, but for me its a bit like a Lancia Fulvia S or HF, lovely cars to see, but then you hear about its FWD then its still a nice car, but...
of course the G15 is RWD so better, but still, the way its build with that engine hanging on its ass like a old VW beetle/a110/a310/etc, ok many porsche's have such also.

Bexhill yesterday, all the usual classic car show suspects - however quietly sitting in a corner of the display field the undoubted star of the show :
1959 Osca Fiat 1500, delectable.
Very cool I was tempted to go yesterday but thought my chances of parking near enough were slim. I went to what I think was the first Bexhill 100 show in 92 and was invited to blat along the front with another TVR. Would've been rude not to 1959 Osca Fiat 1500, delectable.

There's a two page spread on this gorgeous little car in 'Osca, Moretti & Stanguellini' by Unique Motor Books. It was originally registered 'EPR 33D' and now wears the number 'ESJ 801', the owner bought it in December 1996 when it was advertised as a '1958 Maserati OSCA 1500 Coupe, complete but requires finishing'. It soon transpired that it was not a genuine Maserati OSCA but a 1959 Fiat / OSCA 1500S Coupe. When bought in 1996 it was still left hand drive and the owner converted to right hand drive so that his wife could drive it. Later on the original four speed gearbox was replaced by a five speed from a Fiat 124.1959 Osca Fiat 1500, delectable.
What are the chances of seeing an Iso Grifo come rumbling towards you through the narrow streets of Bradford on Avon?
Whatever the chances are, it is far more likely than seeing two nose to tail, followed by a Jensen Interceptor, which is what I witnessed this morning. Couldn't believe it and it made my day!
The first car was a Series 2 with the semi concealed headlights and I think the second car was this one (picture from Auto Express). I couldn't take a picture as I was driving. Both seemed to be in stunning condition.
