Not really a Porsche fan but always loved the 928 and especially the early 80s S and S2. Preferably with pinstripe velour interior.
Quick question for the Porsche beards: what are the main differences between the 928S and the S2?
Bit more power. I seem to recall the uk was the only market that bothered to give it a ‘2’ and ROW left it as ‘S’. Or something, IIRC.Quick question for the Porsche beards: what are the main differences between the 928S and the S2?
When I was a kid in the late 70's we had a wealthy family friend who cycled though a few of the usual cool playboy cars of he day - XJS, 350SLC, BMW 635. However when he turned up one day in a brand new, white 928S, it may well have been beamed down from space. It was jaw dropping. I have loved them ever since. A few years ago I had a Boxster and the specialist who looked after it gave me a lift in his S4 - I was surprised as to how tiny it seemed - I remember them as being much bigger. Astonishing to think that a modern Golf R out-powers it....

Exactly, the S got a few more horses (310 vs 300) in 1984 and only the UK market cars were called the S2.

This makes me slightly sad, it’s ridiculous but it does, when I see the figures for my hero cars from the 70s and 80s compared to today’s “ordinary” semi performance cars! When I was a kid in the late 70's we had a wealthy family friend who cycled though a few of the usual cool playboy cars of he day - XJS, 350SLC, BMW 635. I still look at 80s 911 Turbos and Vantages in awe, I had a mapped R35 GTR for a while and it was parked in a garage near a late 80s Vantage, the difference honestly didn’t occur to me immediately, in my heart the Vantage was faster!
Your blue 928 spot seems to do a few thousand miles a year but always seems to be in the same place on TF Lane!

Harry had a 365 in to test recently https://youtu.be/3Ftgwg8zfQ4
Meanwhile, spotted this 500SEC this morning. Looked immaculate for 180k miles (although it may have had a respray - can't remember this colour back in the day). Mild AMG makeover.
That looks a lot like Robert Plant’s old SEC (now owned by Howard of Take That but don’t think it is)Meanwhile, spotted this 500SEC this morning. Looked immaculate for 180k miles (although it may have had a respray - can't remember this colour back in the day). Mild AMG makeover.
Colour is malachite I think
Wolsingham Country Show in Co. Durham has a small paddock for Classic Cars, pick of a nice turn out was this...
A stunning Bristol 401, the proud owner had done most of the restoration on a car that had been stuck in a garage for over twenty years and had been wrecked by time and rodents. I loved the period details with which he and his good lady had decorated the car, the driving gloves and unopened pack of period cigarettes, in the boot was a fabulous picnic set and vintage camera. Lovely people, lovely car.
