Nice pair, the estate spoiled by having purple wheels …

This was mint, just spoilt by having that silver and black plate!
Its strange? but somehow I like those Granada's they do remind me of some Italian job from de Tomaso ala Longchamp

The big exhaust spoil that for me, otherwise it looks a nice example.

I was thinking exactly the same. Couple of mates, country lane and you’d be in tears of laughter. The MC you’d be in pools of sweat (or worse).

Nice W124 estate at our local garden centre near Nantwich this afternoon.

Not sure if this constitutes a classic just yet, but it attracted my attention by it’s exhaust note - not antisocial but a nice deep purposeful sound.

I know this is a bit of a cheat as it was seen at the Donington Historic on Saturday but I loved this DB6 with the note behind the windscreen.

How nice to see one well used and enjoyed.

Nobody - I have the Ford brochures from that era and the "L" models were only offered with the 2 litre Pinto and 2.3 V6 in the UK!

And they didn't have alloys.

My 1978 2.8 Ghia had those wheels in 14" size, Injection models had 15.35" ones for those unobtainable Michelin TRX tyres.

A bit of a bitsa, albeit possibly in period.

No pic I’m afraid as was driving.

Datsun 200L (I think).
In Taunton, looking immaculate.

My spidey senses are telling me that you could buy a Mk2 2.8L in the UK, but I can’t find anything to back that up, so it might be the cheese sandwich I had for lunch….

As for big engine with low spec - I’d buy that! All the fun, none of the fripperies biggrin

The Cologne 2.8 V6 in the Granada was a revvy torqueless dog however the Essex V6 from the MK1 far better suited the Granada/Consul younger siblings similar bulk

It may have been your cheese sandwich!

According to this Classic World buyers guide, the L was available, as Mr Tidy said, with the 2.0 4 and 2.3 V6. You’d need the GL to get the 2.8.

I’d imagine in Germany you’d have been able to spec the 2.8 L. They love big engined pov spec barges!

Yep, I'm blaming the cheese! Research has confirmed Mr T is correct.

Anyway, my research wasn't entirely fruitless - for those that like this sort of thing, here are a few brochures to browse...
