Seen today on the Cotswold Economy Drive.
This Alpine won the French Ladies Rally Championship when new. It was originally white. It has an 1800cc engine and around 180bhp.
Not part of the Economy Drive! I followed this 2012 registered Foden steam wagon for a while.
At the start, with a full tank, one declares what their fuel consumption will be. At the end the car is filled up and the fuel consumption worked out and compared to the estimate. MSA don't allow the event to be competitive, so there are no winners or losers, it's all for fun, 110 miles of beautiful Cotswold countryside to admire along with a lot of desirable classics. I estimated 31.7 and actually did 32.5.
I did that once and estimated a reasonable 10mpg in the Jaaaaag allowing for some spirited driving, only made about 8 though! This Alpine won the French Ladies Rally Championship when new. It was originally white. It has an 1800cc engine and around 180bhp.

2012 registered? Presumably steam road locomotives have more relaxed exhaust regulations. (And good thing too )
I've noticed quite a lot of steam engines of various kinds (including miniature ones) seem to suddenly have registrations from around this period. Haven't found out why, yet.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
