Seeing the zoomed in pic, it doesn't look like an ice cream van, could be mobile shop or a gown van.

Perhaps the clue is on the building to the right?

I did wonder how long that link would take to be spotted.

Is that a Bull's head on the top right of the roof clam?

And now for something completely different?

Can anyone name all the caravan makes in this 1960's picture of Pentewan Sands near St Austell?
Something missing from this picture, where are all the cars? Even if the caravans were static for the season you would expect those using them to be parked alongside.
Perhaps quite a few of the caravans are 'static' ie belong to the site..?
At least half of them have cars next to them?

Thanks for confirming the make and model.

I actually wondered whether it might be a mobile shop or even a fish van, as it’s parked in a fishing port town. Even with today’s reduced fleet of boats, the vans still come down from Fife to the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas to sell fresh fish. Long days for the van men going to the fish market in the early hours, driving an hour or two down the road, and getting back late at night to wash down the van and get ready to do it all over again. Can’t beat fresh fish though!

It’s parked outside a butcher’s shop though, so could be completely wrong laugh

Slightly zoomed view here, where you can see a bit of wear and tear.

Is the front missing of the building alongside the Escort van?

Top class Woolarding there.
Point of order, there’s two ll’s in Woollard. And William.

Seeing the picture of the Zephyr upthread reminds me of the first car I remember my dad having, back on a H or J plate iirc. AKA the Dagenham dustbin. Big old bus with bench seats front and back, and a parking brake operated by a handle under the dash.

Odd the things you remember.

A friends dad had the Executive - the posh version of the Dagenham dustbin, at least it was when it was new, by the time he got it it was worth about four pence! At the time we thought it was HUUUUUGE, but I saw one more recently and compared to modern stuff wasn't that big.

Yeah, not quite sure what was going on there. The buildings are still there, so it was evidently restored before too long.

This might be the Executive version? Or maybe there were other trim levels that had the full-width rear light panel.

Yeah that's the Executive complete with "EXECUTIVE" badge (there was a similar badge at the front too)

I had an Executive many years ago - was an old banger even then but I quite liked it.

I don't think they're actually very good cars but I saw a really nice, low mileage one, for sale on Car&Classic recently and was quite tempted. Luckily it sold quickly smile

My dad upgraded to the exec in 1972 - CKE707K - with the 3.0 V6 and a sunroof. Sybaritic luxury.

He remained loyal to Ford and his last co car was a Granada Ghia HKE121N. Much nicer.

I laughed when I watched John Sim in ‘Human Traffic’ and he has an old Zodiac to cruise around Cardiff, listening to rap. A different image.

V6 engines and sunroofs are all very well, but did it have a pair of below-bumper fog lights? laugh

Nice contrast in size with the Mini.

Dimensions of the MAHOOSIVE MKIV compared to the now normal Mondeo.

Mondeo is longer and wider. Need a pic of them together for the Classics dwarfed by Moderns thread!

Zephyr/Zodiac/Executive
Length 4,699 mm
Width 1,810 mm
Height 1,486 mm

Mondeo
Length 4,867 mm
Width 1,852 mm
Height 1,482 mm

And Oz's at the start of Auf Wiedersehen Pet which didn't quite make it to Germany.

I knocked one 'L' off because the stance wasn't quite right.

When I were a lad the council decided it wasn't worth laying on a school bus for the half a dozen children in our village so a local taxi firm got the contract. One of the taxis was a stretched Ford Executive with three-speed automatic transmission which had an almighty take-up lag and massive shunt between each 'ratio'.
