Signal Yellow Escort RS Mexico at bottom right.

A rare sight even back then when they had just stopped making them. smile

Interesting to see so many sports cars in this selection: Spitfire, Midget, B GT (possibly 2) and an Alpine. The equivalent today would probably be a similar number of hot hatches.

Any idea what the black car is next to the brown and primer Escort? I'm sure it's something obvious, but for the life of me I can't work it out.

I'm thinking one of the larger Jap offerings of the time - Nissan Laurel, Toyota Crown ?

+1. I wonder how many are left and what spares are like, though. This is from Toyota's own website - they got increasing ugly, sadly, as the generations passed.

My uncle had a silver one, that he resprayed black. He kept it right through the nadir/inverted bell-curve era of Celica value, so I strongly suspect it lives yet. Reg was BMH666, or something like, which I always thought was slightly tempting fate.

I still have a soft spot for the '80s fourth generation version, when Toyota really got their act together. Never owned one. I do have a Supra gearbox in my TR6 though paperbag
If you can verify the plate DVLA will tell you it's fate... BMH 666 does not exist, and neither does that combo with an H or T suffix, the only ones it was issued with.

Viva in the foreground identical to my very first car, JWF 525N. Loved the colour. Reasonable to drive as well, and in decent nick for £350 in 1987. Sold it a year later for about the same, and it survived another couple of years.

Don’t think so. The Avenger was similar length to a Mk1 Escort and much shorter than a Mk3 Cortina as parked behind the black job - it appears longer than both Fords. Also the tail section seems to flip up above the rear lights, I’ll stick with the Japanese theory...heavily chromed around rear Windows - Datsun Bluebird 180 ??

Viva E coupe, by the colour scheme of white with black window frames, unless it's been painted.

i was debating whethera Firenza or a Viva E. I agree that the circled car is Japanese - I thought a Colt perhaps?

I was thinking something Japanese, has quite a squared American style (for the period) rear end.

It's got me totally stumped!

That's the one. Doesn't look like an Avenger.

Just wanted give a mention for the ex-Telecom van in front of the building. There was one around every corner in those days!

Lovely as that Toyota is, it's not one of those.

It's much longer and not flat across the rear.

It is roughly the same size as the Cortina next to it and has the same rear lights.
