I thought it was a Holden Kingswood but seems like an unlikely call in 1970's Falkirk!

Any idea what the black car is next to the brown and primer Escort? I'm sure it's something obvious, but for the life of me I can't work it out.
I'm thinking one of the larger Jap offerings of the time - Nissan Laurel, Toyota Crown ?
I was thinking something Japanese, has quite a squared American style (for the period) rear end.

It's got me totally stumped!
Doyliestag you got it, it's the earlier Mk 2

I'd have to agree looking at the chrome trim round the rear window and matching front side repeaters.

It's an ace looking car, would actually love to have one!

This is why I love this bit of PH, someone will always come up with ananswer!

My late Uncle owned one in the late 1970's so I may have had an unfair advantage

Likely a USAF servicemans car parked up probably from RAF Fairford (or maybe Upper Heyford)

American cars must've looked like futuristic flying saucers in those days, amongst all the grey porridge.

Anybody know where abouts in Witney this is? I took a look at the HIgh Street on Google maps and couldn't find the spot. I wa interested in seeing a 'then & now' comparison but I wonder if this is not the High Street?

Its not a Laurentian, as that model wasn't available in 2 door 'bubble top' bodystyle, and the wheel trims and lack of chrome bits suggest its not a top of the range Bonneville, and the Bonny had a slightly stretched rear end compared to the other 2, so my guess would be Catalina or my vote goes to the middle of the range Ventura model, which today, is the rarest of the 3 versions.

Meanwhile back in Falkirk that looks like a light blue Peugeot 304 in the 4th row.

Just about 60 left in the UK now, funnily enough there is one up for auction later this month. Even a 2p tie wrap to hold up the radiator grille would surely improve its chances ??

Thanks. Didn’t realise the Bonneville was stretched, nor that the Ventura was so rare!
