Does look like it.Love the old style pavement forecourt garages like that, where you just pulled into the side of the road, and they swung a pump line out from an overhead gantry to fill a car up, while pedestrians walked underneath not even thinking about it being a 'elf n safety issue

Petrol pump in the high street, there can't have been many of them still is use in the 60s.
Correctomundo mon ami After my car wash round in the early 70's I secured myself the prime role of, "Petroleum Distributor for the North East Quadrant of North Shields" and specifically Albion Road!
This was the role that my wonderful friend, the car salesman there, (Ron B.) called it.
I was a petrol pump attendant at G Davidson & Sons Main Ford Dealer and at the tender age of 16yr old my Puch Maxi never knew such dizzy heights speeding along to work for a Saturday Morning.
The site was opposite E.Turnbulls Funeral Directors and your post brought back many happy memories.
The pumps of course were on the street and I believe were one of the first in the UK.
We had a wooden hut, sandwiched between the pumps, with an old oil filled radiator for heat. Initially I was trained by an old boy, who, not only was as blind as a bat, but constantly broke foul wind and refused to open the door; I was soooo...glad of a customer! lol!
The pumps had overhead pipes and down drops to kerbside. I had four or five of them and I used to line the car's up, set the clock dial to 4/5.. w.h.y gallons and in between checking tyres and screen/oil checks used to make myself more in tips than wages.
Saturday afternoon was always dead, especially on match day but occasion the local removal lorry would trundle in and ask for a fill up of 70 gallons of diesel, occasionally gifting me a gallon (theft ..gulp!).
E.Turnbulls, opposite had a couple of beautiful Rolls Royce Phantom 5 or 6's and I think I remember an older Phantom 1V; today I believe they run XJ's; times move on...
Many happy memories with Davidsons. Ron used to like his golf and cricket and leave the showroom in my care when he "had to go on an important errand" ..cough cough; we built up a great working relationship and I used to occasionally sell cars in his absence; he was a good man.
Thanks for the memory jog

Reminds me that when I was 15 I was employed as a valeter at the local used car gaff and frequently used to man the site solo on a Sunday. Salesmen Dave was never far away but usually I would just speak to the customers because in the days before mobile phones I couldn't always reach him. He'd come back at closing time and I'd have 3 deposits lined up. Didn't know a thing about margins you see, so I couldn't give discounts!
Happy days.

I replaced it in 1984 with a Capri 2.8 Injection - because Speed Matters.
Speed is a dirty word today, even on PistonHeads Turbobanana said:
