Another shot from the same sort of era features a very chunky-looking 4x4, partly visible behind and to the right of the Saab. Anyone recognise the make and model?

[quote=OptionalExtra]A colour shot of Dunkeld, Perthshire, in 1977, and a different model of Renault from usual!

Back in the 70's I borrowed my dad's Renault 12TS to follow a rally over Mynydd Epynt in mid Wales. I returned the car to Cardiff with an uncannily similar dent in the front wing. Ice, terminal understeer, inexperience and a thankfully small sapling being the cocktail of despair in my case. Aged 19 the 12TS was more powerful then any other car that I had previously driven....after all it was the sporty version.

Looks like a Fiat 124 Coupe at the other end of the parking rank.

Saab 96 - a great choice for Perthshire life. I've driven one of those in the snow and it was brilliant (maybe being 40 years older than when I "enjoyed" the Renault experience helped).

Cream Avenger behind the red Minx ?
The red Minx is a Hunter! A '71 onwards facelift version.

It does appear to be an Avenger.

1950s coal lorry (Bedford?) at West Meon Hants. Still lettered as W (William) Stone, was taken over by his son Peter and then grandson Ray. Latterly had Bedford TKs.

I immediately thought Ford but I'm usually wrong.
I thought Fordson lorry as well but can't identify model type. Radiator cowl badge looks like Austin and the cab like K2 but the front end doesn't match. Much googling hasn't revealed the answer.

Can anyone help? scratchchin

ex Military Austin K3?

Lovely brown Jag midway through the line up in the colour pic. The impact bumpers on the Saab 96 and Princess in the background of the b&w pic means it was '75 or later.

My mate had a silver Jubilee edition 96 at school - fantastic thing and the girls absolutely loved it!!

Same location today

The evidence from the archives. The 12TS pauses on the snowy Brecon Beacons before the Epynt incident.

Whilst in the archives a reminder of Goodwood in the early 80's before the show moved into town.

Ah, never thought of that. Was thinking Jeep or something else American.

A few more colour photos - City of London in 1983; Tamworth and Downe, near Bromley in 1984.

Any guesses on the blue hatchback and blue convertible behind the roadworks? Metro and Alvis TD21? Fiesta and Porsche 356?

Blue hatchback looks like a Renault 5 to me, car facing us I don't know. How Is it convertible? I can't tell.

1) The Ford Owners Club has decided that the local parking restrictions don't apply to cars with a blue oval badge.

2) The guy with the Datsun 120Y will never pass his test with parking like that.

3) Three High St. banks within 100 metres of one another, those were the days.

4) Not a Reliant in sight.

5) It's OK fitting a towbar made out of redundant bits of the Forth Bridge to your Marina, but don't forget the 1.3 won't be powerful enough to tow the smallest Halfords trailer.

6) But seriously...a good reminder of how drop-dead gorgeous the Dolly Sprint looked in period.

I agree with the hatchback being a prefacelift R5 with the smaller tail lights, and yes, doesn't the Dolly look sharp!

Love the yellow Sud - an series 1 Ti. What's the black hatchback far right? I thought it was a Mitsubishi Cordia or something but the tail lights don't match.

It's facing the flatbed truck, square central mounted black number plate. It doesn't appear to have a proper full windscreen frame, so maybe a 356?

Ok so we have a Renault 5, a silver / blue saloon facing us (maybe a Renault 18) - are you saying there is something between the 18 and the truck?

Has the Marina got jacked up suspension? Looks very high.

Possibly wearing spring assisters (or whatever they’re called) to accommodate/compensate for the additional weight when towing?

Blimey! Nice work! It's like CSI enhancement!

Renault 18 is a good call, I'm wrong about it being a convertible facing the other way.

I'm on mobile btw, not a desktop and big screens for zoom in.
