That Volvo estate must have been brand new.
There always seemed to be a fairly strong Volvo presence in Ipswich, I presume it was due to the import depot being based there:Volvo Car Operations Centre, Ipswich c. 1982/83 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
I remember this place as my dad worked nextdoor-but-one.
In the late '80s/early '90s many of the taxis in town were Volvos, even though they can't have been particularly economical.

This is looking at Stoke Bridge in Ipswich as the building in the background is demolished in 1974.
In the Facebook group that this comes from someone recognised his dad driving the new Cortina Mk3.
The wall to the left where the pedestrian is has gone and there are two bridges now, the original in the picture being used for Southbound traffic only.In the Facebook group that this comes from someone recognised his dad driving the new Cortina Mk3.
Googling on Hadlands gives an estate agent in Amersham, but they're not (currently) on the High Street and the shop in the photo looks more like a jeweller's window than an estate agent's. Is the postcard maker's name on the back? That, plus the 67036 reference number, might identify it to a collector.

Thanks - the maker is Harvey Barton and the number is 67037, alas there is nothing else on the back of the card P5BNij said:
