Gratuitous picture of a Humber Sceptre. My Dad had one in brown and we thought it was the height of luxury because it had a vinyl roof and wood veneer.
It is curious how a little 'dressing-up' completely changes one's perception of a car. In the day, a Hillman Hunter would not have attracted a second glance yet a Humber Sceptre which was essentially the same thing with a vinyl roof, wood veneer and a lovely 'full-dialed dashboard' was an object of desire. Ford achieved the same thing (possible more so) with the 1600E which, with a little dressing-up, was completely the other end of the desirability scale from the cooking 4 door Escorts.
Err- Escorts?

Your car isnt very economical
You do one mile and your range has dropped by ten miles!
... And 9mins to do that mile. scratchchin
Mmm-yes. When approaching 99,999 I spent time driving to the post box and back to get it just right and have the luxury of taking the photo in the drive. Then Google Maps and I had to work out a convenient point half a mile away to drive to, turn round, drive back and take the 100,000 photo. Is exactly what didn't happen. No, sirree. Who would do that?

Time for a new volume?

Meant MK 2 Cortinas, although Ford did a similar thing again with the 1300E Escort.

Toledo, Alpine, ??, Marina, Civic
mystery car looks a bit like a Rootes Arrow, so Hunter/Sceptre/etc
The vinyl roof, wheel trims and other trinketry indicate a Humber Sceptre.
It's a Talbot/Chrysler Alpine. biggrin
I think you need to reread the previous post...... wink
What, saying it's a Humber Scepter? That's wrong, it's not got a boot, it's an Alpine. Or do you mean something else?
Read the first post by Dapster in this list with the photo....

Toledo, Alpine, ??, Marina, Civic
The question was regarding the ??, not the Alpine which had already been identified.

The ?? was then pointed out as being an Arrow vehicle, which I confirmed by the hub caps and vinyl roof as being a Sceptre.

That's why I suggested re-reading the posts wink

Everyone is talking about the car in front of the Alpine in dapster’s original post. We all know the red Alpine is an Alpine. wink
