I think I’d keep the 928 and finish the work on it and add:

BMW M5, pref E28 but an E34 if funds were more limited
Lotus Elan Sprint DHC
Peugeot 306 GTI6 - I’ve been meaning to sort out the spare bit of garden at the side of the house for a couple of years so I could get one of these

I reckon all up, for the E34 and inc work on the 928, that’s about AU$100-130k.

4 cars seems a ideal size,

So mine would be

Series 1 88inch Land Rover 1st car I drove

TVR S Series walked past a pale blue E reg one on the way to school in the late 80s

911 C4s manual in a nice colour not grey, black or silver

Sunbeam Tiger with the Ford v8

1. Would have to keep my Scimitar GTC so that's on space filled.
2. Jaguar XJ6 SIII. Had several of these already and want another.
3. Something pre war. Difficult on the plausibility front though. Something like a Riley Kestrel perhaps.
4. 1966 Ford Galaxie 428. Always wanted a massive yank tank.

Keeping it to 4 cars is a great idea. I've been trying to perfect just such a 'stable' for the past 20 years or more!

Starting with a Range Rover - Can't afford a Classic and I'd be scared to use it every day so I'll stick with my own P38. A petrol one would be nice but my diesel will do for now.

Then a BMW 2002 Cabriolet. Already in my garage and more than half way through a long restoration.

How about an MG ZA Magnette? Bought last year in shares with a friend. Light restoration will see it on the road soon. Never rated them back in the day when they were pocket money, but surely count as a gentleman's carriage now. Hand me my string backed driving gloves.

Just one left already! The missus' A Class will have to go then, but what to buy?

Silver Shadow or a Merc W108? Lovely but may compromise the gravitas of the Rangie........ So, strange choice it may be but I'll have an MG Metro please. Earlier the better with a Webasto roof and a period set of wheels.

Opel Ascona A 19SR 2 door, a rare thing for sure and they came with an LSD as standard if memory serves. If you can find one probably £10k tops a quarter of the price of a Mexico.

A lightly tuned Imp for that go kart style fun, big soft spot for Imps had 3 different variations back in the day.

NG TC V8 for some open air motoring.....with a nice sound track.

Mercedes Benz W123, a luxury saloon that’s not over the top, one with a bigish petrol engine.

I’ve been there done the classic thing, as crawling around under cars is not good for me or my ageing body. The above could be had for a reasonable amount of money.

We all have a bucket list that changes.......well mine does.

Sometimes I think of selling my cars, or one of them really, and having money in the bank and a couple of little toys. There would be an MG Magnette ZA, a Mini Moke perhaps for the sheer hell of it, as above a well-spec'd E124 auto with aircon and cruise, and a nice Triumph Tiger 100 bike. I suppose the lot would come to about £50,000 tops, but I stand to be corrected.I have considered selling one car, I really have, but every time I open the garage door I can't bear the thought of opening it one day and it not being there.

Spares might be a little tricky, but I applaud your "well no one else is going to own a collection like this" attitude... you may have one operational at a time. Guess it removes the decision about which one to drive on any given day! hehe

I mist admit, the beaufighter had completely dropped off my radar. I dont think it'd be the Bristol most people would go for.

For me it has to be the TVR Tuscan for its insane but gorgeous looks, A racing special based on a prewar chassis of some sort because I just love their simplicity and history, an old Merc, maybe a 124 for holiday motoring, and my Vixen, when I finally finish her.

That takes me back!

I'd always wanted a Mercedes, and a 1981 W123 280e in that colour was my 1st in 1990!

Sadly it wasn't a great example, and had some issues. But I loved the way it had a 4-speed auto that only used 1st gear if you booted it from a standstill. laugh

But my 1989 manual 190e was a much better car than my W123, or the auto W202 C280 Sport I sold the 190e for.

Although I've had only BMWs for the last 14 years as you can get manual ones, I think I could find a place for a Brabus in my theoretical garage - if only it didn't keep changing. laugh

I’d have my current garage:
Maserati Ghibli 2.8GT
And my current G55 is too recent to be a classic so I’d have an early Puch G500 in 3-door variant

Other two:
1967 Ford Mustang 289 notchback
Triumph Spitfire Mk III

To cover most possibilities with four it would be something like;
Lancia Fulvia (or my dad's Alfa 105 series GTV, all in the fullness of time) as the summer mornings car.

A 635CSi for longer drives and occasional open road blasts.

For tip runs and dog duties I'd like a Peugeot 305 estate like I had at college. Oddly I still miss it after so many years and such a mundane car.

I'd probably keep my Legacy estate as the boringly reliable daily and winter wagon.

I reserve the right to change these choices without warning or logic.

I'm more than happy with the garage being filled with my current Scimitar GTE (1976 SE6)

If I had more space/money/time I would love a Peugeot 309 GTI like I owned back in the day & maybe a earlier Scimitar like I owned in the past.
Neither of my likes/wants are far out of reach at the moment but its the time/space that prevents me buying.

Doesn't stop me looking though.

In my dreams it's always changing but currently it's something along the lines of
1) MkII Jag in grey metallic with oxblood leather .
2) Citroën 15 in Burgundy Red
3) Volvo S70 T5 , I should never have sold mine .
4) an older Range Rover of some sort in Dark Blue , not a pristine one but one to be used daily and bother the mpg !

I've got 3 definite and one that varies depending on what I last saw and thought "I want one of those".

1) W123 280TE - already got it. This isn't mine, but mine is the same colour

2) 2CV - already have OH approval for purchase, just need to find one that isn't 1,000 km away

3) Rover P5B coupe

4) is currently a Chevrolet Nova

I'm a bit weird with cars and my wishlist changes weekly but solid "always on the list" choices would be

My '90 porsche 944 3.0 S2. Its proved so useable and easy to live with. I dont think i coukd give it up now.

Nissan d21 pickup, also know as Nissan hardbody, nissan 1 tonne etc. The D21 is the best of the late 80's early 90's japanese pick ups. Although i love them all, a space wouldbe made for a nice clean original D21.

Citroen mehari. I just love these, remind me of a time knocking about in the south of france/northern spain chasing waves with no worries or commitments.

Nissan patrol for family duties. Preferably past through the hands and workshops of Jonathon Ward, a fascinating chap with quite a unique vision of rebuilding things his way. Ok, so this isn't exactly feasible as his builds are hundreds of thousands so perhaps just a very good patrol.

My current Boxster 987S - I can't find anything I want to replace it with.

A Triumph GT6 project - to be reworked and re-engined, maybe with a small block V8 or re-work the Triumph engine to include a supercharger smile

I'd love to find my old Alfa 155Q4, but as it hasn't been taxed since '03 I suspect it went to the great scrapyard in the sky.

And for my day-to-day driving, I'll have a MK2 Jaguar please!

Four, only four and plausible. I'm sure my selection would change frequently.

Well I'd probably go for a slight variant of my recent garage plus one

1) I've come to enjoy my XKR more that I expected, so that would need to stay, a;though an X100 would be quite acceptable, not even too worried about the "R" bit.
2) I'd like my XJ6 back on the road
3) I miss my XK150, so I'd like a classic XK, but an open top one this time

which leaves the plus 1

Well as I was out for my walk this morning there were a pair of cars I suspect might have been out together, some flash red Ferrari that wasn't really my cup of tea and in front of it an original shape Lotus Elise.

perhaps numbeer 3 is pushing the bounds of plausible.

Sticking to the original sensible thread

1. Datsun 120Y Coupe in turquoise blue and “Frey Bentos” wheel trims
2. Nissan Primera eGT or LEGT
3. Triumph TR7 with blue hood like I use£ to have
4. BMW e46 330 ClubSport
