A Mondial is the prime example of classic car madness
An utterly horrid car dragged up only by the values of its more desirable siblings.
Indeed. For years they were almost worthless engine donors, now they are the price of a 996 Turbo. Righto......An utterly horrid car dragged up only by the values of its more desirable siblings.

John Pogson certainly seems to like the one he had/has: https://youtu.be/WHkU1h_sKM4
Beauty it subjective obviously but I cannot look at the Mondial with a glow, it’s just horrid. I just don’t see what people could possibly like about it. Funny old world.
The 348 was also technically not a good car but at least the proportions were good so it looked purposeful.
Main difference between the 996 Turbo and the Mondial is that the 996 was actually a good car and it worked.

But a lot of people would still prefer the Ferrari. To a lot of people, me included a Porsche in most cases will never be as special as a Ferrari.Me, I’d rather have decent car than a badge

I'd even prefer to have a car that that wasn't decent, if I just liked it, rather than a badge.

I must admit I hate the “ITS A FERRARI WE MUST WORSHIP IT” mentality.
The same could be said about a Porsche. Imho I've always thought the shape of a 911 was downright ugly going back to the early 80s when they were still a rare sight, their saving grace was the fact they went like f**k which made people overlook the look of them and even worked to their advantage as they stood out.
I've been lucky enough in life to own many rather interesting cars, a Ferrari included. Without doubt, one of the worst cars I have ever owned, and a big bubble had burst in my life. Sometimes achieving the dream is like finding out that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow doesn't exist. It was better as a dream.

I own a 2006 Ferrari F430 now and being 13 years old is quite dated compared to modern cars.Anyone wanting to buy the 30 year old Mondial mentioned expecting fault free motoring and breathtaking performance should give it a miss like any old Ferrari, Lamborghini. It's not what it's all about
Correct. The Mondial is not a fast car and is at best an average performer by today’s performance standards. If you want a fast car, then buy something else. What it does give you is old school analogue motoring, mid-engined balance and room for two in the back if you have a family. Sort of like an Ur-Lotus Evora.
