I went early doors today … very busy with lots going on.
Worth the £23 in my opinion

It was good to see the GN Spider on the Shelsley stand
It might look a bit odd but this car has been extremely successful on hill climbs and tracks for nearly 100 years
Read the history of this GN here:-

As I am no longer in the first flush of youth I remember seeing owner Basil Davenport compete in this weird machine at Harewood. Which was quite a contrast to the F1and F5000 cars being used by the championship guys at the time .

Look forward to seeing it again later this morning .

Some good things, some bad things. I liked the polished aluminium bodied Cobra on the Hawk stand. Amazing skill welding aluminium with no visible joins. Also the Building the Legend V12. Superb. By the worst thing was the so-called Ferrari F1 car from the Haynes museum. Made of plywood, no brakes and flimsy 'suspension'. I know most things at the Haynes museum are fake, but they should keep them there, not send them out to other car shows. Overall a good day out.

Used the thingy code, no issue, just means you have to go into the room and they give you a wristband, they asked no questions.

New guys have clearly made an effort to fill the rooms, a little bit of tatt in there, but you expect that, a lot of people selling bloody trailers which takes up space, less cars than usual. More bric a brac in the cold room too which is better, but a lot less stuff to look at in there.

Had some interesting chats, but for the stages outside very poor, a lot of the stuff there was less than interesting, it used to be well stocked with older cars, I think they obviously struggle to attract that so fill it up with about 15 205's which are great but a bit samey after a while, seems to have lost the retro side and gained a lot of newer stuff which is a shame.

And again like most shows if you have money and want to spend either on memorabilia or gear, great, but for having a general mooch a bit poor, better than previous years but like a lot of these things a once every 3 years when the contract gets renewed affair I think.

Certainly not in any worth 28 quid on the day, I would have felt ripped off with that.

I had the same, all worked fine. We weren't on the list, but they didn't hesitate to issue the wristbands. We even got to go in to the main entrance and park virtually next to the main entrance.

I think the only thing I saw that I wasn't impressed with was the new set of body mouldings to go on a Boxster that is supposed to make it look like a 356. A decent enough job, but a 356 is much smaller.

The photo above is Spider II (a later Davenport car) - see the attached video for Spider now owned by David Leigh.

Had a great day but feel the show gets poorer quality every year if one is not interested in rallying
No CNC heads, crossle, ridgeway engines, stand 21, David Gathercole, Ferret etc and stands from CSCC and Trevor Farrington were much smaller than previously

Highlight for me yesterday was talking to the guys on the “Worlds fastest Jensen” stand. Bonkers but brilliant at the same time, shedgineering at its finest!

I don't think it was one of those, but it was certainly similar to it. I didn't pick up a show guide and I've tried searching for "RAM 356" which I think is the name on the board next to it, but didn't find anything. It's just too big, really. I'm not that familiar with the 356, but the one thing that always strikes me about them is how small they are.

I just had a flick in the back of the show guide, and the RAM 356 is attributed to Realm Engineering. Their website isn't displaying anything at the moment https://www.realmengineering.com/

Attended yesterday, it is becoming a bit of an early year motoring staple for me. I used to start my year with Autosport but gave up years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed, spoke to some good people and bought a few bits and pieces. Seemed really busy this year.

You not thinking the 996 cab made to look like one? Light grey in colour? If so, that was embarrassing. Total shed.

I am thinking of that car, but I'm sure it was based on a Boxster, partly because of the centre tail pipes, and partly because I think the card in front of it said it was. On the same stand as a Jaguar replica, I think.

The light grey finish was the gel coat, I think - I don't think it was painted, or at least I hope it wasn't. Maybe they've only just got it.

Well that explains a lot!

I'm pretty sure I saw that car loaded on a trailer while I was in stop/start traffic on the M25 on Thursday - I remember thinking it looked a bit bizarre. laugh
