I really thought PH company directors wouldn't have much of a problem with this. Sorry folks.

Right. It's British, planned through WW2 and the prototype shown in 1948. This is it in the photo, and still survives. The car did not enter production.

PH Company Directors could also have picked this car up at a classics auction for the change in their pockets about 4 years ago.....

As Georgano said, this was a serious attempt at a production car with a decent amount of financial and technical investment. It sold at a Brightwells Auction in 2016 for £1200 but who knows what journey it has taken since - and yes this info is courtesy of a bit of Googling.

Fascinating back story, particularly about the chap that contacted Brightwells to offer the 2 spare engines he'd been hoarding in his shed for years, free to the buyer.

Total production numbers: car, 1...engine,at least 2.

Yep. Built by a Lebanese from Jamaica who was badly let down by promises of Govt. finance which never materialised. He kept the prototype for donkeys years although (according to Georgano) there may have been another car which was sent for evaluation to Scandinavia.

The Murad is now in a private collection, with bits being gathered together and made from scratch as necessary. If I remember correctly, the aim is to build up the second engine. It is a very peculiar looking car !

That just looks like it's an American prototype.

We're obviously not quite so hot on utes. I think a clue is in order.

The glass house is reminiscent of the rather lovely Vauxhall XVR concept from the mid 60's and I'm guessing this vehicle is from a similar era - so is it a (Stateside) GM effort ?

Not GM, no. The opposite in fact. And it's a canopy that swings up forwards.

I quite like the roof ornament smile

It could also convert to a 4 seater, like the Skoda Felicia Fun, by firstly removing the roof ornament (well, asking her to get down smile), then sliding a section of the roof backwards into the load bay to reveal 2 small rear seats:
