I see MST are now offering turn key ''new'' MK1 and 2 Escorts at circa £69 000 dependent on final spec. Do you think they will impact on the price of original cars?

I doubt it.

I thought the New MST Escorts were a bit more than that from what i have seen advertised. I agree with Aero, they will not damage originals values, if anything prop them up a bit.
As to the used values of the New Escorts as and when, my gut feeling is there going to take a fair knock once sold used, Very much depends on spec.

I see mostly there offering rally replica's for the road, personally i would rather see non-arched Escorts, nice and discreet.

For the Mk 1 a Twin cam look, Mk 2, RS1800 look but with 250bhp ish modern injected ECU Ford engines and gearboxes, all else as in period but with modern dampers, EPS as an option, nice sound proofed interiors, again retro ish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i could go on smile

Indeed, lovely looking RS16. Is it poss it might of been a late twin cam then converted by Ford to an RS16 ?
The Halewood RS16's were all exactly that, they were Twin Cam's in every respect apart from the engine and the badges....and engine code on the VIN plate (K6 for a TC and L5 for a BDA)
So, yes, possible, but the engine code on the VIN plate would likely still be for a TC.

Something about the add that makes me a bit uneasy, can't put my finger on it, but with a car that rare, I would of expected a much more detailed add.
I agree, as I hinted at above.
Sold for £45300. I thought it would do more than that to be honest.

Bottom end of top price range in current climate I would say.

I'd love to know what the marked out reg number is though.

Will they have permission from Ford? Presumably the design is copyright?

I wonder if they'll have XX 70 XXX registrations or will they buy period plates?

I wonder if they will be road legal? As a “new” car I imagine they would have to meet current legislation.

They'll put them through IVA I would think....shouldn't be too difficult to get through if using new engines etc.

That firm are (or were) doing the same with those brand new MGB's IIRC using Hertiage shells.

I believe the VIN is BB49KL11059. Not sure of that helps?

I'm not sure why, but i think it did not actually sell, happy to be proved wrong. If so at £45300 and the car is as described, someone got a good deal.

Wow - that IS a lot of money. I genuinely think that there are better ways to spend one's money?

I love a resto mod - but.....

Then for your circumstances and your tastes, there are better ways to spend the money, and that's true of me too, and almost everyone. The key being that every product in this category is irrelevant to "almost everyone".

For me if I had £70K to spend on a single car right now it wouldn't be my choice either. But if I had several million spare to indulge myself with, and space in the barn, I would have one like a shot. And there are enough people like that to make the necessary tiny niche market for these, just as for Eagle E-Types and Singer 911s and Alfaholics GTAs (and yes, with enough money and barn I'd have one each of those as well).

Couple of Mexicos up for sale in a fortnight at the Silverstone auctions

Looks like neither sold, Brown one got to 24k, yellow 34k. I'm surprised the yellow Mex bid was not accepted.

34k is good Mex money, especially in the current climate, but no doubt the owner thinks its worth 10k more, and/or doesn't actually want or need to sell it.

Very true - the Alfaholics GTA-R top notch cars are circa £250k .......but like you say if I was rich enough to afford hypercars I’d definitely be having some stuff like that and £70k plus Escorts in my heated barn
Having driven a few 100k cars on track I think a smaller, more mobile car would be more fun for me out on the roads - I guess why Caterhams get away with being £50k plus

I’ve had this 1/32 scale model for ages; anyway I discovered this morning it has a ‘pull back’ motor and will spin its wheels when used on my wooden floor.
Just like a real RS laugh

Sorry, made me laugh and I had to post...

That Maize one is way overpriced at 44.5k IMHO......kite flying price.

The Tawny one is overpriced as well, but not massively. Only issue with that one, other than a few nit picky items, is it looks like it no longer has its AVO build plate.....otherwise its the better value buy, but not at 33.5k.

I would have said, 30k for the Tawny one, and 32-33k for the Maize one is about right (35k tops)

I do like the Tawny one. I'd be looking at that if I had the spare cash.

But what's going on with Maize one? By the look of the way the rear springs sit it appears to have big lowering blocks on it but the car itself doesn't look to be sitting low. Wrong spring rate perhaps?

Certainly not worth the asking IMHO.

If they couldn't be bothered to prep that slam panel for example(st in the paint etc) and looking at certain parts of the panels I reckon the ready-brek has seen some use on that maize car , if I spot stuff like this in pics I seldom have my mind changed in the flesh normally things are worse , not what I would expect at that price anyway
