I too had a good look at the pics, if the Maize Mex is in its original paint and never restored etc then i can see the value as a survivor car, so you'd expect some "patina"
Still, turning down 34k in these times still surprises me.

The white Twink sold for 42k i believe, so that made decent money.

No way that Mex is original paint. That's had a full strip down and bare shell repaint......and for some reason, they decided not to re-fit a set of black Mexico stripes, which as a base model car it should have.

It might well have been restored 10-15 years ago, and picked up some post restoration patina as a result if its not been kept as a trailer queen...?

The state of the paint on the air cleaner and the state of that relay box on the inner wing though smack of neglect in recent years or a bad restoration....

Yeah, but it's had a replacement oil service. By technicians, no less.

You need to paint up one of these Tranny's to match your ex-Boreham one to go with your painted up DKP smile

The Daytona RS16 doesn't look too bad, although the track width looks odd, and wider than stock, maybe odd offsets on the wheels?

The Sebring RS2 looks a bit rough around the lower body area from the photo's. No interior photo's either.

I quite like the Almond '75 P6 3500 actually......even though it's got a Huntsman roof, which is unobtainium now if it needs replacing.

A lot of stuff coming from the Mike Bell Collection, all without reserve, so I guess that's an estate sale.

The Sebring car says it comes with new seats, that need fitting, but, you can see that it does have seats in it? I guess they’re worn. As you say, probably an estate sale, and they’re just selling everything ‘as is’?

RS2 does look a tad rough.. wonder what that will go for 20 - 25k?

Off topic but a few other cars piqued my interest too:

Mk2 Astra GTE - had the 1.8 version for a while back in the mid 90's as a cheap runaround. Lovely engine, standard handling was a bit soggy but nothing a set of Billies wouldn't have sorted (I didn't as I sold it on and got another 205).

Speaking of Pugs - the Euro 205 Rallye in bits would make a nice project and the red GTi looks clean, just a shame it's been lowered. Why do people do that to roads cars? A standard 1.9 GTi sits perfectly.

I'd have the S2A Landy with the TDi as well... But not at that guide price.

This appeared on my FB feed, with folk raving about it. I'm not at all familiar with Escorts (other than in the co-driver's seat), but what's the reasoning behind having such small wheels, which look totally lost in the arches ? If it's for gearing then surely there must be a better way. Unsprung weight ?

Unfortunately the Mike Bell Collection is an estate sale, so all cars are being sold as a package with their spares.

Mike was a real AVO enthusiast & fastidious about his cars, they had to be right.

The yellow RS1600 is as good an example that you will find and is on the button. I don’t think it’s Daytona Yellow, I think that’s a trick of the light in the golden hour.

The RS2000 is a known AVO car that is going rough around the edges, which Mike intended restoring, but could be just tidied up & used. It has a complete set of new seats as the ones in it are worn.

As for Lairy Canary, it’s a proper Group 2 RS1600 with current HTP until 2026, which I’ve raced with Mike at Spa & Silverstone Classics amongst other places, as it’s eligible for Peter Auto, MRL & Masters, which I would love to own🤞

Wheels are normal 13" wheels as you'd expect to see on a Mk.1.

The issue is an optical illusion, from the fact that the wheels are fitted with modern low profile (poss tarmac tyres) and the suspension looks like its a forest setup rather than a tarmac setup....so it all looks rather odd.
I really don't like bubble arch Mk.1's trying to look like a 'tarmac' racer, they look much better with some proper wheels and proper tyres, not modern stuff.
