If the shell is fked through fire damage, originality is immaterial as its either scrap it and you break it for parts or re-shell it and it stays on the road.
What is so hard to understand about that?

I guess you prefer the idea it gets scrapped and broken for parts?

I think it’s the identity and the parts that make the car that you’re paying for.

I don’t think that’s unusual in the Ford world.

This was my point, two pages ago?I think it’s the identity and the parts that make the car that you’re paying for.
How can this car be worth anything like the money asked, because it is not an RS1600, it is just a collection of parts, with swapped a identification i.e. new shell, probably, many new engine parts, the interior will need replacing etc. etc ....it is now no more than a 'ringer'.
Fools and their money?

Which car are you referring to now, the fire damaged RS1600 from 2 pages ago, or the re-shelled Twin Cam that sold for £53k...?
Was it reshelled using a new shell? If so isn’t this like 75% of any restoration performed now that shells are available. Even in the day it was economically viable to buy a new shell and transfer the parts legitimately. (I think this was alluded to).
I had an Etype restored whereby the only original panel was the roof. Sooner that than patches and plop.
I think the “reshelled” RS1600 was ok money wise. Had it been original in every respect it would have made more.

Wow, 53k for a re-shelled Twink, my RS2 must be worth a lot more than i thought
I suspect that it's been bought by someone with a view to Historic rallying, as that's the only explanation I can think of for the money paid, especially with the fact it's completely the wrong colour for a Twink, and £53k is VERY strong money for a Twink that needs a full strip to bare shell, and re-paint.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
