Nice colour and apparently still on its original shell.

As I said earlier I did have a nice RS2000 Custom and several other Escorts. My brother has 2 Harriers that are mint. I do like that Silver RS Mk 1 and think I will get one and insure it well.
After a Mk 1 you say…..

Its not really another one, is it.....as this car has been posted twice already with different for sale links in the last couple of pages and I've written about its old history.
Well I didn’t realise that. It appears that I’ve disgruntled you. So my apologies.

That looks a nice one......not mint, but looks like an honest and pretty correct car, just needs a bit of tidying up. Nice in stardust as well.

The number plate rings a bell with me as well from decades back.
The numberplate will ring a bell as Its not really another one, is it.....as this car has been posted already and you shared your views on it previously.

The listing says it’s blue which it clearly isn’t in the picture. The picture which, incidentally, looks like it was taken with a Nokia 3210. So I’m guessing it’s a V5 and not much else.

Interesting pair but isn’t the Maize Yellow RS the one that was written off in a fire or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I guess this one could be regarded as a "Burns Find"

Been posted up here before.....was up for sale on the bay of evil IIRC..??

Doesn't look like Maize yellow to me.........more like Daytona Yellow?
It was for sale on eBay and it’s back on there again today. I actually find it quite sad, it was obviously a cherished example pre fire and it’s now being punted around, it’s 3rd time on sale since. I wonder what the buyers have discovered that’s made them choose to forward it on again?

Probably that the shell has had it.....
Sadly, I suspect that you are 100% correct.

Although the eBay link is down, it had sold at auction barely a month ago. Make of that what you will. Here’s the link for it

What a lovely looking thing. Gorgeous colour but the wheels don’t look quite right to my untrained eyes? I’d still have it in a heartbeat.

This has just popped up for sale and the blurb is typically punctilious of the seller, in this case, KGF classics. I would just like aeropilot to cast his critical eye over it and tell us that maybe, it ain’t as perfect as described.

Looks nice.

Needs the vinyl roof put back on though.

Shame about the shiney paint underneath though, but the non-factory finish seems to be what everyone 'wants'.

Rare car. As said, very odd spec, being poverty spec RS2000, but with special order paint and vinyl roof as only options....love to know the original back story to that order smile

Probably a fair price for that, if he restoration is as good as it looks in the photos. Probably only appeal to a Ford collector though?
Thank you for the input aeropilot. I’m always interested in what you have to say. Much appreciated.

I'm not really up on the finer details of Mk.2's being an AVO fan.......No wonder I thought Signal Amber/Chocolate was a rare colour combo......because its really a non-existant combo laugh
As you get to find out, nothing is non existent with Ford, but proving originality is bloody hard
I presume someone has logged the trim codes for the Mk.2, and there were only 3 colours weren't there, black, beige(IIRC) and the chocolate?

That Midnight Blue RS2 that Hammond's resto business 'restored' was black on the trim code, but had been changed to the beige at some point in its life, and they left it beige instead of putting it back to black.
But he’s now changing it back to a black interior having bought the car back of the person who bought it post restoration.

This makes me sad but I do wonder why you’d steal a well known car. Obviously a targeted theft but instantly recognisable (if only for the numberplate) wherever it surfaces?

I had two ‘80 Customs, neither had a vinyl roof.

Another load of incorrect BS from a seller that doesn't know what they talking about.

Shame about the colour change and faked AVO build plate to go with colour change...eek
Shame about the gloss black stripes.
Shame about the Mk.2 RS alloys.
Shame about the horrid combination of early style Custom Pack centre console tray, with the later Post-73 style Custom Pack wood dash on a non-Custom Pack car......along with the 1300E wood door cappings. None of which is correct.
Shame about most of it really.......

A lot of money for a lot of tat.
And the sad reality is that someone without the knowledge that you possess will buy that on the basis of the description and likely think they’ve bought well. I actually read the description before I read your comments and thought what a load of hyperbolic guff, I came back expecting to see your critique and it didn’t disappoint!

Love the number plate.
Very good if it was first registered with that.
Not the original issue but an auction plate from 2012.

The adverts states a small Ford brochure from 1970 on which this very car features on the cover is included.

Does anybody know if this car is still around as the car in the advert cannot be the same car, LHD / RHD etc
It had a V5 issued in 2019 and is currently sorned. Whether the V5 bears any relation to the car listed for sale is the more pressing question.
