Fantastic vid - thanks for sharing. I had seen Iain on Harry's channel, but never watched one of his own videos before.

Tyrrell's Classic Workshop has had some fantastic videos. He was encouraged to do these by the response to Harry's Espada engine rebuild videos I believe.

He is an amazing craftsman and very interesting to listen to.

So if it was red when new how did it end up orange.

Seems strange and one hell of a mix up after all these years

Because on the second page of the build sheet it says 'Arancio Miura', repeated on the (unreliable) 1980s factory records. Bertone built/painted the cars and their records say Rosso Miura. Mix-up likely either immediate post-film repaint at factory or, more likely, Bertone used both colour names interchangeably; Rosso Miura was an orangey colour, particularly in bright sunshine.

No other P400 was Arancio Miura - that colour name was introduced with the P400S, a model that had Rosso Corsa as the 'proper red'. This car - according to its followers - is the sole P400 in Arancio Miura out of 274, as well as the car in the film. Which colour wrecked car is (and chassis) yet to be explained - highly likely it was Rosso Miura as well, a popular colour.

The car today was repainted at the factory recently in a light version of Arancio Miura which does not help. It is 99% the actual car.

The Shah of Iran with his first of 4 x Muira's, a P400 chassis #3303, in Rosso Muira/Bianca (the same combo as the Italian Job car when filmed)

Some prints of the original film make the Miura look red but it is actually orange.....
No, every print of the original film makes the Miura look red. I must have seen that film twenty times over the years, and the car is always red.

They look different whether you are looking at film in cinema, on TV, or uploads to YouTube. Plus screens differ - my super Mac one shows car dark red. If you look at the still of the Shah car (Rosso Miura) and stills from the film like the Rex one going past white stones on road (bloke with blue hat) or even the orangey digger one, it shows an orangey-red car: Rosso Miura. Arancio Miura is bright orange that does not look red in different lights.
