It wasn't a braking problem unique to Ford - my MK1 Golf GTi had the same issue, but with the added bonus of a bulkhead that could get ripped apart by the clutch cable! But braking was more of an issue with a 110bhp Golf than a 53bhp Fiesta.
To be honest, the part in the diagram looks more complicated than the part i bought (anyone remember Dagenham Motors in Uxbridge).
Mine genuinely looked like a piece of Mecano. A very simple piece of flat, straight metal, slightly bent at the end and with a bolt hole at each end.
It made the world of difference, totally eradicating the movement of the servo. Well worth fabricating if you can.
