I see one of my scans has made an appearance on a previous page.
Mention of scrapyards and what they were like reminds me of one of my favourite photos:
Mills Scrapyard 1994 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr
This was near the old USAF bases of Bentwaters and Woodbridge, so they had a fair few interesting USDM cars in the yard as well as the usual 1970s/80s bilge.
Houses now built there - I imagine the site clean-up must have been a bit of a challenge (or the residents find anything they grow has a funny colour/taste and they occasionally dig up the odd car part).
Blimey I used to go to Mills, they were out near Bawdsey iirc? Ran a fleet of green skip and muck away trucks. Only thing I actually bought from there was a Mazda 323 door mirror for a girl I fancied in an attempt to further my chances (didn't work).Mention of scrapyards and what they were like reminds me of one of my favourite photos:

Unbelievable. I bought my wife a track rod end from a 1979 Leyland Sherpa for an anniversary present one year and she made me sleep on the sofa for a week. I'll never understand them.....Dapster said:

That's the place. Being in a fairly remote area and close to the USAF bases I bet they had some wonderful stuff go through the yard over the years.Spottedlaurel said:

I think my favourite one was out near Petistree, they always had loads of old Italian stuff which I was into back then (late 80's).Turin Auto Show in late '71, Ferruccio Lamborghini talks up the new Urraco...
(The car on show was the second pre-production Urraco built, finished in yellow with silver louvres and an external fuel filler cap, the pop up headlights were mounted further up the bonnet than the production cars too)

Always been my dream car since Car magazine did the famous collection trip from the factory back to uk.(The car on show was the second pre-production Urraco built, finished in yellow with silver louvres and an external fuel filler cap, the pop up headlights were mounted further up the bonnet than the production cars too)

Saw one at the Bicester scramble earlier this year, it still has “it” for me.

This is from the Autocar magazine road test in 1976...

I think these were taken at Standlake in about 1989..........
Great to see! I love the look of National Hot Rods from the 1980s. That was my introduction to racing of pretty much any sort, and the sight, sound and smell of them at Foxhall Raceway will remain with me forever. Not a National, but a 1600 still based on a real car:

By coincidence, some years later I ended up selling my RWD Starlet to the chap who had 549 in the background. Pleasingly he still has it as a well-maintained road car.
Early '80s Superstox:

And a rather end-of-life stock car seen in a bush up north (only found because I had a to stop for a 'comfort break'):
