I'll have you know once warmed up they smoke very little!
I still recall in 1968 driving my first Imp (which really, really did need a de-coke - don't hear that term much these days) through Oxford.
I'd just driven off from the traffic lights on St Giles and as I got by the Randolph Hotel this ruddy great yankmobile 'overtook' me, and he (Yank) jumped out and wondering what the hell was going on, I wound my window down.
He yelled in deep south American droll (and really really loud, so much so, everyone was looking)
'Do you realise pal, you've been choking me to ****** death for the last mile!!'

Ah, Levi Sta Prest, I’d forgotten about them. They didn’t actually stay pressed very well despite the advertising hype Johnspex said:

The lad having his collar felt is wearing Wranglers which is odd because I thought is was Levi's or you stayed at home with your Mum.In my industrial midlands town, Wranglers (and Lee) were a very acceptable choice to accompany brogues/loafers, brutus shirts/Fred Perrys and harringtons.
Anyway back to the cars

Think there were some regional variations evidenced when we bumped into others from elsewhere when travelling for music/holidays/football.
We're well OT now though aren't we

Bottom pic is 1981 at the earliest (W reg SD1, fwd Escort in front of the Rising Sun and facelift Merc W123) but the other pics feel a bit earlier for some reason. Jader1973 said:

I don’t think that is a W123 - looks like a W114 to me. Stacked headlights, 2 tone paint, and no door mirrors.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
