Circulating Goodwood in the opposite direction! Was it not possible to get 10,000 miles from one set of tyres?

Yep a 110R.
Originally designed to have the engine in the front?
No idea as they're not my bag but they were were prolific when I were a lad.
"have you got a petrol cap for a Skoda?" "sounds like a fair swap"

"why do Skodas have heated rear screens?" "to keep your hands warms when pushing it"

We forget how rubbish Skodas were! I believe the above car is the only car Autocar declared to be dangerous on a test drive.
When we used to take a couple of days off to go watch the RAC rally in the forests of Wales, and The lake district, we made sure to stick around for the Skodas. Which were always class winners. I remember stopping for petrol, somewhere near Carlisle and one of the Skodas was filling up too at 3 am. The driver and Co driver were happy to have a quick chat about the dent on the rear quarter, before they wheel spinned up.the frosty Road.

I thought the MGB GT was known.as the Sherpa Coupe and the MGB was known as the Sherpa Roadster.

Which makes the Oxford or Cambridge, the Sherpa Saloon.

I would have thought on a thread like this topping up the oil would be quite commonplace. wink
I check all mine except the Volvo and I just send that back. smile
I added a litre to my 1.4T astra GTC yesterday. Only changed the oil in Feb but have done 3K since then.

Should I worry. I check it before any long journey and whenever I need more wash fluid.

I wonder if these witticisms come about after the event, perhaps journalists like Clarkson and Porter coin them? Having grown up right through the era of the MGB I've never heard that before.
Which Shera does it refer to, the Sherpa van?

Well........you could say they came close.
The factory ARG MG Metro 6R4 rally team used the Sherpa V8 vans for their service vans. Only needed a badge swap laugh

The rear engined version was deemed impractical.

Shirley the timeline of mgb's would put them in the J4 era as the Sherpa only appeared around 1974.

Not sure where I heard it first.
Probably when I worked for Lucas in the late 80s.

I drove a Post office V8 Sherpa once - unladen. It had some grunt and sounded awesome. Well, in the 4 miles between fill ups...

I think that's why the NHS is now so broke, all those years of operating V8 Sherpa ambulances in Greater London averaging about 3mpg.

Let’s not get all tribal about this, we all know, we view our classics of choice through rose tinted spectacles. Others may joke about them, but we love them warts and all.

We’re fully aware our choice, will not be the ideal conveyance from a to b, that misses the point. We’re not about getting from a to b, but instead the experience getting from a to b entails.
