Another car advert with BS info...

They made 2,298 production cars, 1,150 in RHD and 1,148 in LHD.

Chrysler/Talbot made an additional 10 or so prototype and pre-production cars prior to the above number that went through the combined Talbot and Lotus assembly process.
Those numbers don't include any of the work's rally cars of course.

Had many Minis over the years, was never a fan of the Clubman though but it did have the 1275 GT model!

Is that a late 70s?

I remember a mate had a 1380cc in the 80s with a massive carby (Dellorto?) sticking out where the instruments should be. It was ridiculously fast and I honestly don't think I have been in a car that "felt" so fast!

I miss my blue Mini Van with an 1100 in it it. So much fun.

It’s a 1980. I’ve had dozens of old minis, decided it was time to get another.

Around this time I knew someone who had a similarly highly tuned 1380 engine in an immaculate black Mini pickup with very wide wheels.

I quite fancy a Mini as another daily - I do a lot of local driving so I think having one would be enjoyable … no 200-mile m-way jaunts etc.

This one is alright in traffic , my last one had a 1380 with just under 120bhp-fast as fk but an utter pain in town!!

Unfortunately the first track test did not go to plan, i did not get on track, the clutch plates would not disengage. With the car on axle stands I had run through the gears in my garage, what I did not notice was that the wheels kept turning. With that issue fixed I took it for another test last week. The clutch behaved but I did identify other shortcomings, the brakes were pretty hopeless, it was over-heating and the gearing was too short. I will be at Donington this weekend, I have changed the fan to increase airflow, the cwp has been changed to give longer gearing and I have repositioned the master cylinder by 5mm to give the piston more travel. I'm not expecting to be on the pace but I will see progress in comparison with last week and no doubt will identify other issues to resolve. All part of the development curve with a unique car which was last raced in the '60s.

The Gilbern Chevy GT at Donington last weekend. Another day when things did not go to plan, the Chevy overheated very quickly and after a few laps the brakes locked on. The continued learning curve.
