Classic Minis, London to Brighton 2022
Discussion
Great pics, thanks for sharing them - I was looking for my brother-in-law's dark blue Rover Cooper amongst them as he was on the run yesterday
Spoke to him this morning and he said it was a very enjoyable day but the numbers were slightly down on previous runs. Mind you, he said that when he left Madiera Drive in Brighton in the afternoon some cars were still only just arriving. I've done it five times between 1993 and 2013 and the atmosphere at the old starting point Crystal Palace was always very good, but getting into Brighton could be a nightmare at times. Still loads of fun though!

I was cycling out of Brighton just after the heavy rain stopped and was feeling sorry for the open top Minis who must have got soaked. (I got wet as well, but only had to go a couple of miles home!)At least it didn't pee down all day.
and lastly
this and 2 others spotted at the other end of the mad mile whilst walking home , seem to be doing their own thing not
on the prescribed run route ....
Every picture posted .less the rejects .
Cars were passing from just before 8am until about 10am .
I managed to salvage 2 car flags that didn't make it further than 2 miles from the start ,must have been many more strewn over Surrey and West Sussex on the drive down .
As I mentioned earlier , I am very grateful to all those that acknowledged the sad photographer at the roundabout , it lessened the depression being suffered ,for just a short while .

I spotted route signs on my way to work this morning so looked up the official route which was turn left onto the A27 and come into Brighton from the East, which avoids the traffic queues on the way into town...but it looked like most were ignoring that judging by the number of cars going straight down the A23!The best option is actually to go straight into Brighton as the route past Falmer stadium that drops you into the marina is an absolute nightmare due to the Marina traffic lights only letting a couple of cars through at a time. This results in a solid queue of traffic that backs up all the way to the stadium which takes hours to escape from.
The fact that Brighton council have completely screwed the roads up in the rest of the city is another matter altogether. Seems to get worse every time I go to Brighton these days

Brilliant pictures, thanks for posting. My mini broke down so I couldn't make it. Fingers crossed we make it to Goodwood this weekend coming.
Mine failed it's MOT just before and I couldn't get the parts fast enough so missed this year's run. Will be more organised and hopefully make it next year! One day..... I will do this in one of my restored travellers. That will of course involve me actually restoring them - so will be another couple of years yet.
I had to make do this year with just joining in with the convoys in my Gen 1 Bini for a few miles as they came past. Great fun. Amazing how many old minis are still on the road.
A friend of mine is one of the organisers - she keeps harassing me to get the restorations done!
